My baby is 8 weeks old and just wondering if what I am doing is right to start encouraging him to sleep through the night at a later age. Feeding at moment is:
8am - 6oz
11.30 - 4 oz
2.30 - 4oz
6.00 - 3oz then bath then 3 0z at 7pm
11.20 - 6oz

then in middle of night its normally 3amish and try to only give him 2 or 3 ounces so he doesnt rely too much on that feed.

Just wondering if I should be upping any feeds or what you guys suggest to start to get him to sleep through as can;t see how he will ever stop waking up for his 3am feed as is like clockwork and wakes up for it at 2.50 every night

thanks

I just fed Imi whatever she wanted whenever she wanted it. She dropped her night feeds of her own accord, after being like your LO and waking at the same time every night x

i just went with what mine wanted as well, Leah stopped waking in the night at 8 weeks, Jack was only 6 weeks - Lana has just turned 6 weeks and she is showing signs of being nearly ready, the night feed it at 4/5ish and she never takes more then 4 oz, whereas her day time feeds are always 6ozs

thing is she doesnt have a schedule or anything, i couldnt write down the times she feeds as it is different every day

I feed whatever Jax wants, I dont see the point fighting or trying to get a routine going when he clearly isn't ready. I've waited & this last wk he's started going to bed average time of 7.30pm, he sleeps til 12.30 where he has a feed of 4-5oz, we get up about 8am & usually about 9am he has his 1st feed of 5-6oz.
He doesn't sleep 12.30 til 8 mind he still thrashes about & wakes for his dummy or to get in with me but he doesn't want a feed so we're getting there. I couldn't not feed him the amount he wanted tbh .

I'm with Dizzy on this one, Evie is demand fed too, when she cries for food, I give it :)
In the evening she feeds every couple of hours and goes down to sleep at about 10pm. She doesnt wake up till about 7am - we used to give her a dreamfeed but she'd often wake up at the end or just not be interested in it, so it was defeating the object. That said, even without a night feed, she still averages around 28-30oz per day.

I feed on demand, stopped counting scoops since LO was 6 wks.

Some nights he becomes restless & I have to dream feed, but most of the nights he takes his last bottle (6 oz) at 10:00-11:00 & sleeps through until 7:00 am, wakes up for a bottle & change then back to sleep until 10-11 am

morgan didnt sleep thro till he was 14wk he wud feed at 4am all the time, from 12 midnight !!
if i gave him 2much he wud have wind, but in his own stride he started ajusting, one day i just put hiis dummy bk in at 4am and he slept till 6am ! that was r break thro xx

thanks guys - think i got it in my head for a moment that i could be in control but think i just have to wait and my LO will let me know when he wants to sleep through when he's ready!
x

No such thing when you have a baby! At least not till they're a little older anyways ;)
