Well as the title says, how can you tell.

Since first getting my BFP i have had quite a bit of discharge but today, i feel soaking. I have a wet patch in my knickers and its wet, clear and doesnt smell. Definitely not my normal CM.

Little worried. Sorry if its all TMI just dont knwo where else to turn really. is this normal?

xx

Hi Hun, I think the doc would have to test it to be able to tell...

It could just be a bit of urine if bubs is sitting on your bladder. I know it's clear and doesn't smell but if it was just a small amount it may not be obvious?

thanks hun, im worrying quite a bit now but dont want to call the MW and make myself look like an idiot if its nothing to worry about.

Im going to see if it stops and if it doesnt i will get up there.

As long as it wasn't much it's probably nothing to worry about because your body will replace it, make sure you are drinking plenty & keep your eye on it x

Go get checked out if you're worried but I get this all of the time. I've been having the clear wet patches in my underwear since around 18 weeks, been worrying me ever since but I've been checked over and told it wasn't amniotic fluid just the unpleasant side of pregnancy and increased discharges, I think it's pretty normal. I feel more confident that it isn't amniotic fluid as the weeks go by since I doubt I'd leak for 10 weeks without having any serious repercussions like waters breaking fully, more or low amniotic fluid levels, which I haven't.

I also bought a pack of these from Amazon, they're quite pricey but they put my mind at rest on days I was more worried.

Those look really good. they say discontinued on that site but im sure ill find some from somewhere.

Hey
It's probably excess discharge, I've heard loads about it on here and also had it myself - it worried me and I ended up going getting checked out to put it out my mind. Your GP can take a quick swab and check if it's amniotic fluid, they can also have a little peak at your cervix to make sure it's nicely closed. Mine did this and I really recommend it as it was constantly in the back of my mind and now I feel miles better! It only takes 5mins!

Mr DR said that if it was a gradual wetness it was likely just discharge but if you have been lying down for an hour or two and get up to a gush of fluid it could be amniotic fluid and it's better to be checked. Remember that amniotic fluid constantly replaces itself too so even if you are leaking a little it may not necessarily cause problems straight away but it's best that DR/midwife know about it.

Hope you get it sorted soon xx

Would they not beable to tell this when they test ur urine? I have been gettin wet aswell and thought it was just watery discharge but now im gettin worried.I dont have my next apointment with mw till 4 weeksish.Should i see my doctor? I just dont want people thinking im being silly.x

I started a similar thread about a week ago. When I get up in the am after I go to the bathroom and start walking around I usually get a small gush of clear wet fluid. I go to the docs on thurs so I will ask them about it then and let u know what they say! I have a feeling it's normal...

thanks minkie hunny if you could that would be great.

It seems to have stopped for me now so i think it was just one of those things but would be nice to get it confirmed just to put my mind at rest.

xx

Laura I was going to mention the pads you can get that detect amnio fluid - try mothercare or boots baby department I've seen them in one of those shops but I can't remember which one. Discharge does kick up though so I've read, the further along you go. I know I'm not as far on as you but I have days where my underwear is soaked and I feel like I've pee'd myself, other days it's more creamy. Mine doesnt smell either and is very fluidy.

xx

Hey Laura only just seen this thread, hope ur ok hun :hugs: are u sure it's not just pee? TMI but my knickers have been getting soaked through recently and I was a lil worried but it just turned out that I was leaking pee, and quite a bit of it  so have had to take to wearing panty liners/pads now!! The bigger I get the more embarrassing this pregnancy seems to get lol x

i now have to wear panty liners every day as if i dont by the time i am home from work i need to change my underwear and my washing bill was getting a bit high. its not very nice but just think its one of the not so nice pregnancy things

Thanks Ness, ill look into those hun. Hope your well.

Hi Lolly, im ok now ta chick. Had a bit of a panick yesterday. I agree with you on that one, the further along we get, the less comfortable and more embarrasing things become. Will all be worth it in the end though.

Oh good :hugs: glad ur feeling better! Yes definatly will all be worth it in the end... not even out of the womb yet and our darling children already having us tearing our hair out and constantly worying about them :cloud9: hehe x

thanks Laura honey I'm good!

Hope you're feeling a bit better today? I hear you on the pee thing - I had that towards the end of first tri before my uterus started lifting off of my bladder lol it's stopped now but sure it'll pick up again once bubs starts pressing on my bladder again!

xx

2bh you cant tell some people say it smells sweet and its just like water and you feel a gushing feeling with it as it collects in your cervix then pours out... but saying this i had constant watery discharge where my knickers were damp and even when i stood up it would almost drip out (sorry too much info) but turns out i just had thrush and there is plenty of fluid for our lo to swim around in... if your concerned just ring your midwife and they will check for you :) its totaly normal to get a lot of discharge in pregnancy and totaly normal for it to be watery at times... but like i say if your in any discomfort or worried get them called x

I had someone tell me that amniotic fluid smells a little bit like Comet cleaner

Hi

I have had exactly the same thing from about 16 weeks. I had a massive panic and went to the drs. He assured me that its totally normal but I had swabs done to put my mind at ease.

If you are worried go to the dr - it really made me feel much better x x x
