That it was 'time?' I mean, I have been having extreme BH's since around 25 weeks, lower back pain as baby is back to back and also cramps. Vaginal discharge all the way through and aches everyday.

How will I know when it's the real thing? I have twinges today. Like a tummy ache but with tightening. Also, felt like I had been kicked in the gut this morning when baby made a sudden movement. Never felt anything like it before, could it be baby moving down further? My vag also feels like its going to fall out any minute

How did u tell the real thing from the practising? :hugs:

I'd been checked an hour before going into labour and wasn't showing any signs of being ready so I'd been told to get some sleep and I'd be on the drip in the morning (I was in hospital for induction, I'd had the pessary in). I got stomach and back ache (DS was back to back) which came and went but at first they were like 5 minutes apart and only lasted about a minute so I thought I was just crampy and I'd move around and they'd go so I didn't twig it was labour for about an hour. After an hour I went for a bath and they got quite painful and more frequent and I twigged that they were contractions. Then I had a clear out which I knew was a sign. I don't think I'd have realised if they'd stayed irregular/infrequent so I'm not much help sorry :haha:. Sounds like baby is moving down and hopefully engaging though :)

With my first I didn't!!!!

Just felt like you described until I hit transition and had her within an hour  Quite shocking but did managed to make it to hospital.

So now I'm driving myself mental thinking every twinge is labour starting :(

Every labour is different hun, the day i went into labour with my first my mum said i walked funny like i couldn't close my legs! Waters broke that night & had him by next evening. With second contractions started first & water broke whilst being checked down there in hospital. You'll know when its really happening because of the pain & frequency of contractions.
Hope this helped a little x

I didn't have any signs at all until I felt a popping sensation which was my waters and then about 30 seconds later had my first contraction xx

oh i knew lol. The pain was the clue :) Couldn't speak through contractions and knew I had to go. Turns out I was 7cm so I managed to stick it out a while!

Same, with my baby (shes my 1st) I had nooo idea. I had ran around all day with my mom, then at home that evening I was having the same braxton hicks I had been having since 20 weeks. My back was hurting a little more than it had been, I wanted to take a tylenol p.m. and go to bed. Well my OH said I didn't look well and we were going. I was still talking, walking, and overall normal.

I got to the hospital, I was 8cm and I was ready to push... 30 min of pushing and she was here. Had I taken that tylenol I would of walked into the hospital with a baby!

Had been having what I thought were braxton hickss waking me up during the night but had the same two nights before so I wasn't worried. They continued after I got out of bed when previously they died down and I could see the outline of my baby with every contraction. I started bleeding really heavily so had to be seen by a consultant at the PAU who said I was 4cm and I would almost definitely hit active labour in the next 6 hours. I chose to go him where I vomited occasionally but suddenly and they got so sore I HAD to stand through them. The biggest difference between braxton hicks and the real thing for me were being able to see my baby's outline and in labour I felt sick if my bump was touched even slightly during a contraction.

I didn't know! I was having bad contractions but they felt totally different than I'd expected so I was thinking there was something wrong with me but when my waters broke I realised!
