Ds has been breastfed since birth, we have had to move on to formula and the night feeds are killing me!

How do u cope with gettin up to do bottles then gettin them back asleep? Ds goes to bed about 7 and wakes at 12, 4 and up at about 7!

He's 6 months old!

When breastfed it was so easy I'd just plonk him on boob n he would fall asleep, now he has been awake with me for 2 hours, iv fed him winded changed bum but he's so hard to get to sleep n I don't want this every night as I have a dd who is under 2 as well although she sleeps fab!

preparation!!! have everything ready to go by your bed!
my LO is STTN now but even for the morning feed i put the water in the bottle in a thermo jacket and the formula measured ready to be decanted.
in the very early days when i was trying to give bottles at exactly the same temperature (dont do that now) i bought a microwave for the bedroom so i could heat up the water easily.

Same as the above! Except my LO doesnt mind room temp bottles, so I dont even need to heat it up. He has been FF since birth, so I'm used to it now! It usually takes around an hour from him waking up to being back to sleep. But most nights he does a good 5 hour stretch before waking

I have a flask of bpoiling hot water, a clean empty sterilised bottle and my formula powder in one of those containers. i have it at my bed and make it up when needed, its normally still hot (stays hot 8hrs) so once ive put the water and powder in i stick the lids on and shake then put in the bathroom sink filled with cold water. (bathroom right next to my room) by time ive changed nappy its ready. he falls asleep straight after bottle.

I use cartons during the night.
Open the carton, pour it into a sterilised bottle and feed it LO, OH then takes that down to the fridge whilst im feeding/changing/burping etc. then LO will go back to sleep.
I then open a new carton for the next feed & OH does the same again, then use the remainder of the cartons for the first feed of the morning :)
I found it so much easier than breastfeeding as found BF took agessss.
or as others have said, use room temp water xx

I found Breastfeeding a struggle in the night as LO never seemed to take enough then would always wake up again. She only had one night feed, When I started FF I used the cartons, when she woke up I would open carton, put in sterilised bottle then pop it in the bottle warmer while I changed her nappy, I always done it in the dark otherwise she didnt know the difference between night and day, was also good when OH had a day off because he could do the night feed. After we started FF, she only had a night feed for about 2 weeks then starting sleeping right through

your baby seems to have good sleep patterns :) i mean our lo is on four feeds and she has been on Formula since birth. its easier if you store one or two bottles in the fridge then heat one up in the middle of the night, if you know bubs will eat the lot then microwave and swirl it around then check for hot spots, that is what we do.

same as the other ladies, prepare the bottles beforehand! i add formula when needed to cool boiled water and have all the bits i need next to my bed. it may not be the recommended way but it works for us :) we offered the bottle at room temperature straight after i stopped BF and she took it so we don't heat them up :)

I use the sma readytouse bottles. Take the steriliser to bed, put a sterilised teat straight on bottle. Throw away excess in morn so dont have to get out of bed at all.

Thanks ladies! Iv been giving bottle when he wakes but he dusnt take much if any at all so maybe he just wakes to wake, not just cos he's hungry!

All my bottles are always pre-made :) Put it in the bottle warmer and hopefully was still only grumping before he woke up fully

Preparation isthe key, Isabelle doesn't wake for a night feed but when she did if I didn't have all the bits prepared it was a killer and I'd get so ratty trying to do it rushing and end up in a tizz!

I used to take 2 sterilesd bottles up to bed and a flask of water and the formula in little pots nothing worse than already being shattered and trying to count at 3am!

Or we did start making bottles in advance and storing them in the fridge and heating them up when she needed.... We did this for about a month as we started to waste. Somuchdoing this and would end up chucking loads of milk away.

If your really shattered then I'd deffo reccomend the little cartons for night time just pour and feed xx
