I spilt aptamil pepti which smells awful itself on the carpet on Tuesday and just cleaned it up with some fairy liquid and then the next day I could smell something horrible and found it was the site of the split milk so I cleaned it again with the washing up liquid and nothing, still smells disgusting!

I've put white vinegar on it but now it smells like a mixture of vinegar and off milk, is that normal?
Anything else I can try please, the smell is making me sick and LO keeps crawling over it  x

When Tegan had reflux and was puking milk all over our house I used to get a bowl of hot water and tip one cap full of washing powder/liquid into it and scrub it like my life depended on it. It took AGES, the scrubbing itself was the hard bit and took about half an hour for each patch of sick but it got rid of the smell every time

I'm going to try scrubbing it like this too, it just smells like vinegar and horribleness now, yuck

sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on it before you go to bed & then hoover it up when u get up in the morning. xx

My kids constantly dump drinks on the carpet or have a mess from whatever they are eating. I soak the area in water and use a towel to absorb the water. I then take soap water and soak the area again and use a towel to absorb the soap water. I scrub and soak with water again and keep drying it with a towel and or fan. I repeat if it still smells. I am glad to say I didn't need to rent a steam cleaner like before.

Dilute persil laundry liquid works. You really have to soak the carpet with it and rub it in. Also works on urine. Personally though we bought a vax carpet cleaner 3 or 4 years ago as its the easiest way to clean up spilt milk properly amongst so many other nasties the kiddos spill on the carpet. Xx

I do the same as Tegan's mama but if its coloured I'd use cold water to stop stains. Any remaining powder gets hoovered up. It's only things like washing powder and soda things that will break down the enzymes [sp?!] in the sick

Hope you manage to get it out! Its horrible, we had it in our car. For a long time afterwards if it was warm
