Hiya ladies,

I'm thinking of putting up our xmas tree very soon but is very unsure about how LO will react to it he is 16 months old and i think he will either pull it down on himself or break something off the tree and hurt himself both i don't want him to do.

I don't want to deprive my son of a xmas tree but just wondering how your LO's were when your tree went up

Thanks girls

Are you able to put it up in a room that can be closed off by a baby gate ?

we're hoping to put our tree up at the weekend and Ive been thinking about this too; part of me wants to put it somewhere where he cant touch it and aprt of me thinks, no, i want to put itin our usual place and we'll just have to keep telling him not to touch it. Im dreading it in a way but quite interested to see how he reacts to it. Im going to put all of the baubles etc higher up i think xx

2 Christmas's ago Dec was 14 months and I just kept telling him "NO" "Dont touch" he got the hang of it and within a week or so the novelty had worn off. :)

I put my tree up yesterday! Chloe and Jaycee were told no a few times and they didnt touch it since. Hopefully this continues

Thanks girls, the only room that is cut off with the aid of a baby gate is the kitchen, i think i am going to put it up in the living room like normal and just put baubles up high and hope he gets the hang of it worst comes to worst hunny can tether it to the radiator lol

Hope you all have a merry christmas xxx

hey jesse is near enough the same age as your LO and i put the tree up last thursday, i just put the breakable stuff out of reach higher up on the tree and the first couple of days he kept tryna mess with it and i just kept taking him away and saying 'no we dont touch that' i bought him a reindeer that sings and hes much more interested in that now and hardly goes near the tree :) xx

Tegan can't reach ours. We put it on a table on purpose. Guess that is one of the upsides to having a baby who is paraplegic :)

Ours is on table and she cant reach it x

I have had to tell them a few times because I added some candy canes to my tree and now they want to eat them lol. They dont bother for ages and then will go and try and get one down but I just take it off them and say no. They soon get on with playing with something else.

Think I'm going to put ours in the playpen.

my rooms not big enough for him not to touch it  or for a playpen :?

Ours was meant to be on the table but it wasnt safe, she keeps playing with it, the word no is working a bit.

But today i copped for eating a choccie of it, what was more worrying is that she took it off with her mouth and ate it with the foil on, genuius as i told her not to touch them
