My OH and I are having a bit of a problem. He likes "normal" non nicknameable names, like Andy instead of Andrew. or Nick instead od Nickolas.... and I like totally unnormal names like Lachlan and Xander. And were not finding a whole lot of middle ground... because I like Andrew... not Andy :dohh: He said he liked sylvester  REALLY... were just looking at boy names .. we have the girl ones figured. any help would be lovely!:flower:

It's hard if you both have such different taste & thoughts on names... I would say just keep searching until you find a name you both love... or one of you choose this baby's name & the other chooses the next baby's name. Or one of you choose first name & one choose middle name. Just some thoughts.

I think there may have to be a bit of compromise too. If he likes Andy & you like Andrew... it should be an easy compromise to name him Andrew & call him Andy??

Choosing a name should be fun -- so enjoy this special time & good luck finding a name you both love!

BTW -- Lachlan is a really cool name... but Sylvester? :nope:

The 'stuck with that name forever' problem is improved by officially giving them a full name, not the shortening: if your son has 'Christopher' on his birth certificate, then he can choose whether he wants to be Christopher, Chris or Tiff when he's older, but if you name him Chris, he's got nowhere to go.

I agree with Racheldigger. We've decided on Wesley because then he can be Wesley if he wants, or he can be Wes. Either way, he'll be Wesley to me. :) But he's got somewhere to go with it.

Or Topher?

How about something like Drew? It's nice, and a bit unusual...I found an unusual baby names website...try looking for one on the internet?
