...Amelie?

I'm really struggling this time round to find any names I like, and whenever I get a possible, DH says no straight away. Amelie is something I keep going back to, DH is not on board at all yet but I'll work on that!
Just wondering what people think of the name, and particularly how you would pronounce it? I always thought it was 'A-meh-lee', but I saw something on a post where someone was saying she hated it when people pronounced it wrong and had it written similar for what she thought was wrong. Then I saw something on tv the other day where a teacher was calling a kid 'A-mee-lee', literally like Amelia without the 'a' on the end.

I think I quite like it, just wouldn't want it to be confused with 'Emily', and hoping to use the middle name Olivia after a relative, so not sure if that's a bit of a mouthful.

Ah-meh-lie too. I love it. Just not sure how well it flows with Olivia though? Xx

I thought the same, the middle name is quite certain for a girl though, DD1 has MIL's name for her middle name, and so if we have another girl I want to use my mum's name as her middle name. My mum is called Olive and she hates her name but she wouldn't mind Olivia. Her nickname is Daisy though so maybe we could use that instead.

I love both Olive and Olivia. I would have used Olive myself if we didn't have an Ollie. Daisy is sweet too! X

Well, honestly if you look at English pronunciation rules, it would be pronounced A mee lie, however you can still call her A meh lie. I think that's really cute. You just might have to correct people now and again. But that could happen to any name. My name is Stephany and people have called me Steven. More than once. So it's up to you!

My cousin has an Amelie and they pronounce it Aw-mel-ee, so that's how I've always pronounced it as well since she's the only Amelie I know!

My first thought was a-meh-lee but I can see how someone could confuse it for ay-mee-lee

For me it's exactly like Emily but it's with an Ah sound instead at the beginning.

So kind of like how Emily sounds like emmalee, Amelie sounds like amalee to me.
