We've started our LO on solids and he is getting his bottles like normal and some solids around 6-7 for "dinner". Then he gets another bottle about 30 minutes when he is finished. Am I supposed to be cutting back on his nighttime bottle? how do you incorporate the other meals? what are your schedules?! i'm so lost, lol!

No not yet, it's still very early. At first your baby's gut will be too immature to digest the food so it'll pretty much travel straight through and out the other end. So the main bulk of nutrients will be from bottles. It might not be for a good while that your baby is ready to drop a bottle, in fact at this age if they do start to refuse a substantial amount of milk I'd say cut back on the solids because it is the milk that's more important right now.

Eventually your baby will let you know when they are ready to drop a bottle by gradually drinking less when you offer milk. Until that time continue with the milk as normal.

We kept everything exactly the same and just let her decide if she wanted as much milk or not. We feed on demand, so bottles are when she's hungry rather that at certain times (but they are generally at predictable times every day, give or take about an hour). The times and amounts didn't change at all until about 9 months, then she stopped wanting her late morning bottle. So we had lunch (solids) first at noon and then she had that bottle after lunch rather than before, which meant the 4pm (ish) bottle was less. Now we're at the point where all bottles are about half of what they were at 6 months and she is almost ready to drop the 4pm bottle completely (we're at 10.5 months). I'm guessing soon we'll be on 3 bottles a day. You just go with what they want, but don't force it. You will end up wasting formula at a point because you'll be making more than they'll want for a bit while you let them decide to drop a bottle, but that's not a big deal. But it doesn't usually happen for awhile yet, so I wouldn't try to rush things. Just keep your milk feeds the same time and amount and offer solids around those. Eventually it will all just fall into place.

Thank you so much for your replies! I was worried I might end up over feeding but you have put my mind at ease! thanks so much.
