Hi there! I'm new to this site

I have been TTC for over a year. I came off the pill last Nov and didn't have AF at all since then. Finally been given Clomid by my doctor. The first cycle of 100mg went well - I think I O'd around CD15 but AF came on day 21 for some odd reason. Now taking my second round and went for scan on CD12 but only 1 follicle of 12mm. Since then no symptoms of O and it is now CD17. Has it not worked this cycle? Is it normal for it to work first time and not second time? WOuld love to hear from others!

Hi, just seen this, you are better off posting this in the lttc section rather than the journal section...

you could still ov, did they say anything to you at the scan? do you temp at all?

It depends on the individual. Didn't work for me, has for some other people I know of.

It did work as far as getting my body to O, however I didn't O until around day 17-19. I have heard others mention that they O'd later on Clomid. It didn't work for me as far as getting that elusive BFP. good luck hope it works better for you.

hi...ru usin opk's? I also believe alot of ppl ov later on clomid...i ov'd around the normal time 4me, altho i am on it as my db has low sa's so givin his sperm more targets. as for getting pg i think the sucess rate is 40%. I think we are all given diff dosages dependant on the reason, if it defo hasnt wrked this time c ur dr an mayb they will up ur dosage? Good luck x

you may also need to look at a higher dosage or injectible clomid.

Thanks everyone. Yes have been using OPKs but have never got a positive. Had a bit of cramping around CD17-20 tho so hoping it did work. Now on CD28and just waiting for something to happen one way or the other...

Hi Mol2, I am on my first round of clomid (100mg), and I didn't ovulate until Day 21 (and by then I had just about given up hope, and was amazed to see a positive OPK), so don't give up yet! I felt really bloated and nipples were sore during O, but now I'm 10dpo, and all symptoms have gone away - I'm still waiting 2 days to do test....

Hi

I am on my first cycle of Clomid 50mg as I have PCOS causing irregular periods, anything between 34 and 48 days (although didnt have anything for about 6 months after mc last year). I am currently on day 22 and went for my 4th tracking scan today as my follicles just didn't seem to be growing whatsoever!! However today there was a dominant one of about 17mm which the nurse said will mean I will ovualte in next couple of days. I had about given up hope but at least I know to start bd'ing!! I don't really think the clomid on this dose has worked for me as the dates aren't really any shorter than before.

it worked on my 6th month last yr, after 3 yrs ttc.

when straight in for another baby after we had Rhys so far no look i've had 4 cycles worth so far.
hope you get you :bfp: soon hun, your in the right place for suport

Helen1234, your baby photo is too cute!! I was wondering whether anyone else was on Clomid and not being monitered by their doctor. Mine literally gave it to me and told me when to take it. I've been doing all the research online myself, and realised that other ladies were getting scans etc. Am I missing out? I know I ovulated using OPK, but wondering if I should be getting any other tests?...

Hey Joli, I'm in the same position as you, I was prescribed 3 months of clomid 50mg but without any tracking. I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS but since coming off pill in feb my cycle lengths were 52, 40, 38, 47, 48 and 35, so have been prescribed it to help regulate cycles but I think maybe I should have been tested for PCOS before prescribing clomid.

I'm on round 2 of clomid and think I ovulated today CD19, last round ovulated on CD18 so it is helping but still haven't got my BFP!

can you ladies tell me how you feel on clomid. is it any different than a regular tww?

Whilst on Clomid, I had no side effects, but when I ovulated I had all the pregnancy symptoms, tender nipples, very bloated. Now on day 11/12 of my 2WW, and all symptoms are gone (although temperature is still high)... I feel absolutely normal during this 2WW, which is a bit depressing, but I'm still hopeful (because of my temp!), and have read that lots of women don't have any symptoms until at least a week after implantation.

nicola123, I didn't get tested for PCOS either! My doc took an ultrasound of my ovaries, said they looked a bit swollen (probably because I hadn't ovulated for 7 months after coming off the pill!), took a blood test, said all my hormones were normal, then put me on clomid (only 1 cycle) without another word said!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you! :)

Hey Joli - I didn't even get an ultra sound!! Just a 10 minute chat where FS took my details and OH's details and I showed her my cycle lengths and she just prescribed clomid for 3 months and told me on my second round to book a blood test on CD21 (which is tomorrow) and she will write to me with the results. Really got my fingers crossed for you too and let me know how you get on.

ttcbaby - my last 2ww the only thing i noticed was sore nipples round ovulation time, which i haven't had before other than that I felt normal - unfortunately!!

Wow, our doctors sound like a good bunch...not! Let me know how your blood test goes, and whilst you're there, remember to pound your doc with questions!

Im on my 3rd round with Clomid, first 2 months were 50mg and now increased to 150mg, I have had no tracking at all either, just the blood test on cd21, unfortunately I didnt ovulate with the first 2 cycles and Im praying I do this time, as time is running out for me, Im 42 now so wont get IVF or any other help once Im taken off the Clomid (which I think is 6 months max)!!!!!
I had a few side effects with the first round (headaches, hot flashes and pain in my lower tummy), with the 2nd and 3rd (even though there was a 100mg increase), I had no side effects at all apart from the odd hot flash!!!!
Ladies here is hoping it works for all of us and we all get BFP very very soon!!!!!

Pasteljay - I went to see a fertility specialist today (as on top of my ovulation problems, my DH has very low sperm motility). He said that I might have PCOS based on the number of follicles I have not maturing, and he said he didn't think clomid was necessary the best medication for me, since my first round took me 21 days to O. He said after this month (which is just round 2), he wants to put me on some injections to induce ovulation. Can you try IUI with the clomid?

i've just had another prescription for 6 months of clomid :)

i use clear blue fertility monitor so i know exactly when i'm ovulated i dont think i'd manage without it if i'm honest

i'm not being monitored

Hi Joli, I did ask about IUI but was told that if I was not ovulating there is no point in doing IUI, I have just had my cd21 bloods done so keeping my fingers crossed it worked this time. She also said it may be better to just go straight to IVF because of my age (Im 42), but the same thing applies if Im not ovulating I cant get pregnant anyway and I dont want anybody else's eggs, so just have to wait and hope I guess!!!!
