Hi all

Ollie was on Enfamil AR for his reflux, but the GP has recommended we try a regular formula now as he has been on it for 6 months. Before specific anti reflux formula milk we tried Cow and Gate and Aptamil, the Cow and Gate made him very sick indeed and the Aptamil made him constipated. Now we're trying him on SMA follow on milk but I have changed about 7 nappies already today, all of which have been poo, still solid but he is just pooing so frequently. He's been on the SMA follow on since Saturday, so I'm wondering how long he would need to be on the formula for before his body gets used to it? i.e. will this carry on, or settle down once he's been on it a week etc? Or if anyone has any advice on formula after Enfamil then please let me know!

Thanks!

It can take a couple of weeks for baby to get used to a change in formula. Fran is on SMA follow on now and when she first went on it she would poo 4 or 5 times a day, and now it's only usually 2 times - occasionally 3. She was on SMA gold from birth and hungry baby from 15 weeks until about a week before she was 6 months old and would only poo once a day.

So it's not necessarily to do with your LO being on Enfamil before that you are experiencing this hun.

I hope it settles down - and although you haven't mentioned colour, just so you know it's normal for SMA poo's to be green because it contains more iron than some other brands x
