How long did it take your baby to learn some sign language?

I want to start teaching my nearly 1-year-old, hoping to decrease his frustration and meltdowns. Any tips appreciated!

It really depends on the kid as well as how consistent you are. I gave up with Violet because she wasn't picking it up and was finding her own way to communicate. She did pick up "more" but not until she could say it! Leo, on the other hand, picked up signs well before a year, but then stopped using them. He'll use one here and there, but really with NO consistency. Right now he's REALLY focused on learning to walk and I suppose I'll give sign another go once the novelty of walking wears off. He's 14 months old tomorrow and really has no words at this point.
