how long did it take your lo's to regain birth weight?

kaitlin will be 2weeks tomorrow.. she was 8lb 15oz at birth, dropped down to 8lb 6oz and weighed in this morning at 8lb 8oz. the midwife wont discharge me from their care until she regains birth weight so now having visits from her and the health visitor.
anyone have similar experience and how long did it take your lo to get their weight up? x

My Sam was 7 lbs 11 1/2 oz when he was born, he was 7 lbs 10 oz when he was discharged the next day. He had his first doctor's appointment at 5 days old and was back up to 7 lbs 12 oz. He's a little piggy though and loves to eat!

LO was born 5lbs 13oz, 3 days later he was 5lbs 3oz then 7 days after that he was back to birth weight at 5lbs 13oz, so it took 10 days.

My LO was born 10lb 1oz, was weighed two days later at 9lb 10oz and was 10lb 7lbs five days later. She is a milk fiend and a bit of a chubster - she's 13lb 5oz at 7 weeks xx

i have good milk supply and shes feeding well&often. does this mean shes a slow gainer? x

My LO weighed 5lb12oz at birth, went down to 5lb4oz then about a week after she was born she was up to 5lb10oz... and then didn't get weighed again for a couple weeks after that and she was more the 7lbs then so I'm unsure how long it took her exactly

My lo was 8 lbs 11 ozs and a week later 7 lbs 5 ozs, took my milk a bit to come in, ans 4 days later was back up to 8 lbs 4 ozs. We go in tomorrow to see if he is up to birth weight- it will be two weeks tomorrow.

My eldest it took him between 3 and 4 weeks, my second eldest never lost any weight and was up a few ounces by 5 days, second youngest took him 10 days and my youngest it took him about 15 days at 15days he was weighed and was 5g under but that may have been the scale and 5g is nothing, anyway by 17days he was another 5-6oz above his birthweight. My two that took that bit longer were both tongue tied xx

My daughter took 3 weeks. She was born at 7 lbs. 6 oz. and dropped to 6 lbs. 10 oz. At 3 weeks she was 7 lbs. 5 oz. and by 3 weeks 3 days she was up to 8 lbs. 1 oz. I had to feed her every hour to get her weight up until she made back to her birth weight. Now she is just over 7 weeks and is gaining nicely and feeds every 2-3 hours and on occasion 4 hours.

It took my DD 4 weeks, which was a long time really.

For DS1 and DS2 I can't remember, but it was a lot less time than DD. I think DS2 was about 10 days or something.

She was born at 6lb 5oz, dropped to 5lb 13oz on day 3, day 5 she was 6lb 1oz, and by day 7 she was back to 6lb 5oz!

lo wasnt a big eater, after 3 weeks i was told to top up with formula.. in the end it took 3.5 months.. xx

My lo took 3 weeks. He was 7lbs 15 when he was born then discharged at 7lbs 4 oz and at 2 weeks he was 7lbs 10 oz. The next week he was 7lbs 15 I think. He has been a slow gainer ever since. At 10 weeks he is 10 lbs.

two weeks, just breasfeed. It can take up to three weeks for some babies, without worries.

As long as they are gaining and not LOOSING weigh I wouldn't worry, you can always say u want to be discharged regradless of what they say. They cant force u to stay, though they like to word it like they can.

It took about 2 weeks for DS to get back to his birth weight. It did worry me at the fine but as pp said, as long as it was weight gained and not lost then there isn't a problem.

He was slightly jaundice still so slept a lot. I had to start being strict with feeds and waking him up every 2-3 hours to feed him. I had to strip him down tk his nappy sometimes to make him wake up and feed. I also started eating ready brek and rice pudding every day to add fat and calories to my milk. He gained 4oz in 2 days after not gaining any for a week!!! So the making him feed more and eating high calorie milky puddings definitely helped for me.

thanks everyone glad to know itcan sometimes take a while, my boys weights were well up within a few days. health visitor is coming tomoro and midwife again on wednesday so not sure which day she,ll be weighed-hopefully she will have put on a good amount. x

shes still 8lb 8oz. theyv said theyre giving her 7more days then referring to doctor if she hasnt regained.anyone know what happens there?x

My son was born at 9lb 6oz, at 3 days old he was down to 8lb 11oz. At 6 days old he was up to 9lb 3oz, but at 8 days old he hadn't gained anything else. This concerned me so I started giving him bottles of EBM (I know many people here may say I over reacted, but this is what I did none the less). By 2 weeks old he was 10lb 1oz
