How Long Did You Have BFP After MC?

Hiya, I've posted this elsewhere, but I'd thought I'd ask here too as I want to be realistic and not get my hopes up.

I MC'd four weeks ago, at about 6+4. I used a clearblue digital today and it was 'Pregnant 1-2 weeks'.

This is likely to be left over HCG from the last pregnancy, isn't it?

Does anyone know how long the hormone usually stays in your body? They didn't mention it at the hospital and I can't really find an answer on the net.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

xx

Is there a chance you could be pregnant again, although it does seem probably a little too soon as you only miscarried 4 weeks ago? My tests were showing negative within about 10 days after my miscarriage and I used a CB digi at 2 weeks after which showed I was "not pregnant". I had missed miscarriage. My baby died at 7 weeks 2 days and I didn't find out until I had my 12 week scan. I had an ERPC then and everything was removed. If there's no chance of you being pregnant again, maybe go and see your doctor as maybe not everything has been removed xxx

Thanks so much for your reply.

There is a possibility I could be pregnant, as we've not used contraception.

I don't know whether to wait until this time next week and do another Clearblue test (it was a pack of two), or get a Dr's appointment?

If I had retained product, do you think I would be bleeding and cramping?

I have no preg symptoms.

I'm so confused!!

Hey hun, i replied to you in the other section but thought i'd add one here too just in case you missed it.

I took a urine test at the hospital and got a :bfn: straight away- it was exactly 5 days after starting to MC. But i do believe everyone is different and i think it depends how early your MC was (mine was very early) and how quickly you pass everything etc.

I got my new :bfp: on Friday, exactly one month on from the MC.

I hope this is a new :bfp: for you. I'd say it's definitely worth making an appointment with your Dr to get a medical opinion.

Good luck :hugs:

More confusion today.

During my MC I did a test at the hospital which came out faintly positive. The Dr said that my hCG levels were 'dropping like a stone'.

I didn't do any tests after that, so I don't know if my levels ever went back to 0. The only test I've done is the one yesterday, which said Pregnant 1-2.

I have to admit I did let myself think the best, and that it might be a new pregnancy.

Now I've started to bleed.

What is going on?

Oh i'm so sorry hun, your mind must be all over the place right now :hugs:

It's impossible to say, but i guess this could be leftover from your MC and has taken a while to come out of your system? Or else this is a new pregnancy and you are having some 1st trimester bleeding?

I would see your GP. I hope you're able to get some answers.

Thank you rebaby  much appreciated.

I am going to go to the Dr's surgery first thing tomorrow. It's hard getting an appointment on a Monday but I need to get this sorted asap.

I can't make sense of anything right now! I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up, but on the other hand I need to be positive. I am just all over the place, and scared mostly. I don't want this to end badly again

Oh goodness redrose, you must be distraught, you poor thing :hugs:

I can't offer you any advice is I'm still in the early stages so have no experince, but wanted to send you some  & some sticky dust :dust: xxx

I hope this is a new pregnancy for you. The only way of knowing is bloods and to see if they are rising. That said my hcg was there for a month after the d&c.
Good luck!

Hi hun really hope this is a new pg for ,you the same happened to me i had a m/c and thought it was a complete m/c so when my period did not arrive 7 weeks later took a test it came up bfp , but when i demanded a scan because i wasnt it sure it turned out to be retained product. hope this does not upset you but wanted to be honest and not give you false hope.
but it could be a bfp and i really hope it is for you .

take care

Hi

I've just recently miscarried last week and had it induced , but they said to be about 2 weeks but its true everyone is different ,and i wish u all the best though and hope everything is ok xxx:hug:

Thanks girls for all your help.

It's not a new pregnancy. At least, if it was, it's not anymore as I'm bleeding heavily now.

Went to see my GP yesterday, and he said (no exaggeration) It's not likely to be hCG from the last pregnancy, as my bloods from then showed the levels dropping quickly. He said don't think of it as a MC, ''it's just a period''. He didn't want to take blood levels, as it was ''clearly on its way out'' and he thinks I should stop thinking about it as sometimes it's better not to know. He said I'm young and there's time for babies in the future. He said not to try and get pregnant in the month after a MC as he believes it is risky, and to wait 2-3 months.

That was it really. Come back if I'm worried.

Erm, I'm here *now* because I'm worried. :hissy:

Anyway, I'm bleeding lots today and it is so so painful. I'm worrying now that I may have endometreosis, as my (tmi) bowel movements are incredibly painful when I'm on my period. It's always been like that, but during my last MC it was so painful I passed out.

I'm so scared that there's something wrong with me and I'll have to go through MC after MC.

It's getting too much now, and I really feel like I need to wait a while before I think about trying again. I couldn't take any more confusion or uncertainty or heartbreak again.

I just want to say thanks again to everyone who has replied and sent kind thoughts. I really truly hope that you all get the BFP's and sticky beans that you all deserve.

Hi Rose
I dont have any advice but could you maybe speak to another GP if you are worried - its sounds like you are having a rought time.
Wishing you the best

Oh Rose i am so so sorry hun :hugs: i was really hoping for the best for you.

Your Dr sounds like a complete arse, i can't believe he would say all that to you, part of his job is to be reassuring and comforting and it sounds like he was neither, in fact the opposite! :dohh:

I am hesitant to say what i am about to type i don't want it to come out wrong, but i have been doing a lot of reading since my mc, and everything i am reading says that after 2 miscarriages your chances of having a successful pregnancy and a baby to take home are still very very good. I understand that right now that isn't the point and you wanted this pregnancy and this baby, and if you want to take some time out, then that can be a good thing, but i don't want you to lose hope for the future either.

Massive

I'm so sorry hun. Sending you great big .

I'm reading this post a little late for you, but I did find this on the net:

Most women can expect their levels to return to a non-pregnant range about 4 - 6 weeks after a pregnancy loss has occurred. This can differentiate by how the loss occurred (spontaneous miscarriage, D & C procedure, abortion, natural delivery) and how high the levels were at the time of the loss. Health care providers usually will continue to test hCG levels after a pregnancy loss to ensure they return back to <5.0

Please make sure that they check your levels for you, as you don't want to risk infection, if this is a second loss for you. My doctor has always tracked my bhcg level back down. This is so important for them to do.

Sending you :hugs:. If you want to chat, feel free to pm me hun. I have had two losses myself.

Hi there. Can't believe your doc told you to think that it wasn't a pregnancy... sounds like a chemical pregnancy to me... but then again I'm not a GP. When I had chemical my period arrived and was soooo sore/heavy. My bfn came about 2.5 weeks after erpc. Nobody tells you that though when you leave hospital do they? Hope you feel better soon.
