Just wondering girls how long for have to keep doing it for, does anyone one know?

i just always did it, out of habit until i stopped using bottles

6 mnths. But I will keep doing it until we stop using bottles xx

Like nmwb said, I think the guidelines say 6 months minimum. Like the other ladies, I intend to keep sterilising bottles for as long as we're using them :)

I'm in the U.S. & Megans dr told me that I didnt need to sterilize... but we also dont boil our water over here either... so must be different

If you're making bottles ahead of using them, whether it's with just water or made up formula, it's best to keep sterilising your bottles. If you're making them up as and when, some people say 6 months, others 1 year.

https://parenting.ivillage.com/baby/bnutrition/0,,b11b,00.html,

I've been doing some research because it drives me potty all the sterilizing, i might go the American way!!

I was going to stop at 6 months but find it easier to pop the bottles in the cold water steriliser and store them there so we have kept on :)

I also don't sterilize regularly. Once in a while I will boil-sterilize a bunch of stuff, but only every couple weeks or so.

In my experience as an American in the UK, I find the UK to be much more preoccupied with all things 'health and safety.' For example, it's illegal to have a power outlet in the bathroom over here!

I too am an American living in UK, and I still sterilize like mad. It's silly but I rather be safe than sorry. And to be honest, it's now just a habit and when I do sterilize I don't even realise I'm doing it! LOL.

With my first daughter the recommendation was 6 months, I've since been told it's 1 year, but we'll probably stop around 6 months or when our steriliser packs up ;)

My electric steriliser packed up a couple of weeks ago, when Andrew was just 7m. I used the TT cold-water / microwave a couple of times but got lazy ... Haven't been sterilising for a couple of weeks now. The bottles are probably still cleaner than the toys he puts in his mouth!

I was told to stop dead at a year old, I think 6 months old is way way way too young

Im just going to do it more out of habit.
But min of a year prob x

Well seeing as Imi puts EVERYTHING she gets her hands on in her mouth aswell as dragging herself around the carpet, I'm not really sure why I bother anyway

it is more for oral thrush ladies, that is what it is trying to prevent the most, not sickness and dirt
