I always make up my formula ( so sterile water and powder !)

I cooled it down and my baby didn't want it and has fallen asleep - how long can I use the formula for ?? I just end up making a new batch but it takes time to cool down so I'm just asking its been an hour since I made it up!!

Not sure where you are. If you're talking about at room temperature, in the US it is recommended to discard after one hour; and I think the UK says 2 hours. If you're talking about mixed up formula kept in the refrigerator, US standards say 24 hours; not sure about the UK or elsewhere. Hope that helps.

I discard the bottle after it's been out for 1 hour.

I prefer her to at least start drinking it within the hour, but i'm sure I read on the food standards site that it should be consumed within 2 hours when made from fresh. My wee girl fell asleep this morning just as i made her bottle but woke up 50 minutes later so I gave her it xx

if she hasn't touched it i keep it for 2 hours but if she's fed from it, i only keep it for 1 hour.

2 hours from making it (assuming you didnt let kettle cool for more than 30 mins). Not allowed to store them in fridge anymore like you could years ago -current advice is that germs can grow.

I don't sterilise water either-but it should be discarded after an hour.

"If the formula has been fed to your baby, and they haven't finished the bottle, then it is best to discard the unused portion. This is because the formula has come in contact with digestive enzymes and bacteria that may cause deterioration or contamination of the leftovers.

Untouched formula, either mixed up in advance as a batch, or prepared in a single bottle and not used, should be refrigerated immediately. It is fine to refrigerate formula that has been heated up to use again. The gentle heating that is done will not cause any significant destruction of nutrients if it is allowed to cool down quickly. It is not unusual to offer a baby a warm bottle of formula only to find out that hunger is not the problem. If this is the case, there is no need to discard the bottle of formula. Putting it right back into the refrigerator for later use is fine.

The guidelines for heated formula may be summarized as follows --- discard the leftovers, but unused, (i.e. untouched) heated formula can be refrigerated for later use.

Is this in the US? In the UK advice is to use formula within 2 hours regardless of refridgeration.
