Hi my LO has been on omeprazole since Friday 10mg a day and she's 8 weeks old, she's been struggling with feeding so its suspected SR just waiting for appointment with pead to come through, I think it's taking some affect as she is clearing some 4oz bottles with no pain but some she's still really struggling with, Ive now resorted to burping her as late in the bottle I can as this seems to kick off the discomfort xx

I think it took about 1-2 weeks. Also babies are different though. Omeprazole didnt work on its own for my lg she has Omeprazole, domperidone and gaviscon. She still has reflux flareups even on all these x

It can take up to two weeks for the full effect. It is also more effective if you give it 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after you eat. We have to do that and axid three times a day.

That's what I've been doing funny hiw doctors don't tell you how to use the meds correctly just once a day, good job I read on here that's how to give it. Thanks for the info xx

Also does anyone know if I can add some apple purree to the syringe as I just gave her a dose and she really badly choked scared the life out of me she's 8 weeks old x

It can take up to 14 days. Have you tried other medications before this? Omeprazole is normally a last resort.

Yea we have tried everything, infant gaviscon, raniditine with 3 dosage increases now were on this waiting for an urgent appointment with a pead x

Thats good they have got onto it so quickly then - good luck hun - I know how stressful it can be!
