How long does your LO BF for?

How long does your baby BF for in one session? I'm looking for answers from people with babies of different ages.

Niamh is 6 weeks now, but will still happily BF for an hour at a time but the if I give her EBM it takes her 20mins to drain the bottle and go back to sleep. Is this pretty normal for a BF baby? I'm assuming she BFs for longer because it's harder work, and she stops and starts because she likes the comfort of my breast.

At what age do they start taking more for less time at each feed?

katie's average feeding time is 40mins!! she's 12 weeks and i cant see her feeds gettin any shorter!its not uncommon for her to be on the boob fr over an hour either!

Erin was feeding for up to 45mins, even an hour, but she was doing an awful lot of playing around on there - I've started taking her off as soon as she starts to mess around, she seems to need about 25-30mins now and she's just as content as before, so I don't feel like I'm stopping her too soon.

Bren now feeds about 5-10 minutes at a time. It has been awhile since he has done that, but I can't remember the point it changed.

jack will bf for about 30mins or sometimes 45mins it depends really but 30mins does him fine

Anything from 20 mins to an hour, probably averaging about 40 mins. Depends what time of day and when he last fed (we are routine-less remember). It's definitely harder work on the breast than from a bottle.

15 - 30 mins or can drain a bottle in ten!.
That being said he's still attatched almost constantly since i'm chief pacifier..He will NOT take to a dummy, though I did catch him having a sneaky suck of his thumb in his sleep the other day..lol

Poppy feeds for about 10-20 mins usually now at 5 months and has done for a few weeks. Quite often she will finish, have a burp and a bit of a play but then go back for an extra 5 minutes. Think that's like she's had her mains and wants some pudding

David usually is eating from 15-25 min, but if you add in comfort nursing he can go upwards of an hour (then he'll fall asleep). He's finally gotten to where he only needs a comfort nurse a couple of times a day -- he used to go all day and I would get no break from the nursing! Now he's happy to be walked or to be bounced or in his swing (thank God). When I express, he can drink from a bottle in about 5 minutes and be done.

Oliver is nearly 4 months and has consistently fed so far between 5-15 mins he is real guzzler he is a hungry boy latches on and gets it done! suits me! But saying that i leave him on longer sometimes when he falls asleep as it is for comfort which isn't all of the time.

Also he is going 2 hours to 3 hours between feeds even during the night again and always has done.

katie's 5.30feed was 50mins this morning!! annd she wasnt taking it slowl either! we got up at 9.30, had a bum change and came down for her breakfast, its now 10.20 and she's showing no sign of slowing down!

It depends with Jay. The day feeds are usually about 10 - 15 mins but his evening / night time feeds are longer - usually 30 mins or sometimes longer He feeds at least every 2 hours during the day but will usually sleep for about 6 / 7 hours from 10:30 onwards
