We switched our baby to aptamil comfort a week ago as he was taking days to poop. This still hasn't resolved itself but I expect it to take time to kick in. He seems constipated but when he does poop it's soft and more green than pale yellow, not too sure what to do? And if they get better do you keep them on comfort or back to aptamil 1?!

Hi there,

From what I've read about the comfort milks it will make your babies poo a greeny colour, that's normal. If It works for your little one then Id maybe stick with it for a while longer! :flower:

im properly stressing now we've had Ollie on this since i stoppped BF. we had no clue whatsoever about FF or the types of milk coz i was so determined to BF so my oh in a panic rushed to tesco to get milk for LO and got this stuff his logic being prevention is better than cure...im now seriously worried we shouldnt be giving him it and should be giving him the normal aptimel 1 stuff..... :S any advice? x

I wouldn't worry too much, it just makes things a little easier for baby. I would put baby on aptamil 1 and see if your baby is ok on that. If baby shows signs if anything comfort milk is made for then switch back. No harm.

thanks hun, total nightmare too coz we've just went n bought another 2 tubs!! wondering if asda will willingly swap even one tub wihtout a receipt lol oh just thought better to prevent colic then him get it n us have to then buy the comfort coz oh had really bad colic when he was a bub....i just didnt know there was a limit really as to how long you should use it for...would ask the HV tomorrow but its yet another new one im seeing n dont want to get into trouble for using the wrong stuff! z

Hv seem to criticise everything! Your mummy and You know your own baby best! Don't worry Hun x

We have used comfort milk since Izzy was 4 weeks old, and i will use it until she is 1

i didnt know there was a time limit, i dont think there is???? i put Freddie on it 2 weeks ago (he is 4 weeks old tomorrow) as he was only pooing every 4 days (now seems to be 1 a day 90% of the time) his poos are a green yellow colour.

I wont be changing back to aptamil 1 for a while yet. he was 4 weeks prem and i feel this is gentler on his tummy.

Brookie, i wouldnt worry about keeping Ollie on it, it just has less lactose than normal aptamil and is also thicker. Make sure you use bigger holed teats, and dont be surprised if your wee man takes less feed than the runnier normal types. Freddie guzzles 4oz now, how about Ollie??

Oh i just check the aptamil website.....comfort is fine to stay on until they are 1yr old!!!

Good stuff, my little boy George was 5 weeks prem too so hopefully it'll kick in and he'll go more regulary!

lol ollie has started taking 6oz today hes a hungry boy so im actually gonna ask the hv tom about switching him to hungry baby milk...olliw was 8lb 4 when he was born n loves his grub but is really gd he'll just not take anymore when hes full so i know if hes taking the 6oz hes needing it....lol hungry horace x

Freddie was born 5lb 8oz but he is about 7lb i guess (weigh day next week) he is defo chunking up by the day and i think its a matter of days before he is onto 5oz!!

I still try with the BF, it was my every intention but i have bugger all milk!!! HE couldnt latch for 3 weeks, and after the c section the milk never really arrived.....so dissapointing!!!!!
