Hi all, Just wondering I use tt bottles and My daughter is on the slow flow teats i was just wondering when i should put her onto medium flow? she wont take anything over 3oz (mainly takes 2oz) and as a result wakes alot for feed id love for her to sleep for 4 hours at a time....very occasionally shes took 100ml so im not sure if its shes not hungry or just cant be bothered and falls asleep? any suggestions? xx

HI HUN

im using Avent bottles and before we left SCBU they started us off on fast flow teats (4 holes 6m+)

there reason was they said he would get to tired to feed well on slow flow , he is taking 4oz 4 hrly now and im thinking of changing the teats to a slower one as now his suck is stronger he spits milk out the side?

its a constant struggle isnt it trying to get it right, at the mo he has oral thrush and i feel so bad, even though im sooo careful with sterilzing etc,

hows the little princess doing? im taking kane to get weighed on wednesday im sure he must be close to 8lb now, he looks huge to me lol

The TT slow flow teats are *seriously* slow. Our LO moved up to size 2 teats at 2 weeks old, and could probably have done it sooner.

Easiest way to see if your LO is ready is to try it. If she has milk spurting straight back out, or coming out her nose or anything, then the teat is too fast.

You could maybe try Variflow as well. Our MW recommended them, but our baby hated them

Well they said the same to me in scbu and i took fast flow teats in but they wanted to see how she went on the slow flow and if she dropped weight or found it too tiring to go onto the next teet but she didnt she was fine....i just dont know what to do cause im thinking she might take more if shes not having to work so hard? but then i dont want it coming out too fast and it going everywhere  Im glad Kane is doing well! Rosalie had the HV on thursday and shes now 6lb6oz!! Doubled her birthweight. She also had a little thrush in her mouth dont feel bad about it its soooo common i got given nystan xx

Think she's doing great to do 3 oz at a time given that she was 6 weeks early! Megan was only 3 weeks early but at the hospital they told me they didnt expect her stomach to handle even 2 oz til her due date and it wasnt til she was around 6-7 weeks she could take in 3 oz at a time. When she was 9 weeks (2mo) she was drinking 3-4oz every 3-4 hours which dr said is less than most 2 mo olds. Sure enough 2-3 weeks later she was 4-6oz every 3-4 hours. It just takes their tummies time to catch up!

My LO Only had Slow flow for about a week, he got too frustrated and kept collapsing the teat!

xx

When we were using TT bottles we moved to size 2 at 8 wks but my LO is on anti reflux formula which is thick. Now we use Dr. Brown bottle & we had to use size 3.

he was about 2 weeks old, he was getting tired to easily on the slow flow and giving up after just a few oz
