Hi

So im wondering how long it takes your baby to drink their bottle? Zack has 6oz bottle but will usually only have 5 oz.. I just dont like him draining it dry hence 6oz is made...

annnyyway in the night he can have whole bottle, be winded and back in bed within 40 mins but in the day we can be there for and hour or sometimes more? should i be leaving longer between feeds currently 3hours ish sometimes 4 hours or is this normal?

thanks

At that age i think Jac would usually take 25-30 mins as he needed winding a lot....but i do know that sometimes it would take 40-45 mins sometimes as they we're really stubborn to get up.

Now Jac takes 15-20 mins as we still wind every few ounces but its so much easier now.

With feeding it depends on LO really....if you feed on a schedule then it's up to you...even though i would give him milk if he did want it early anyway. If you feed on demand then feed him when he wants it.
Every 3-4 hours is normal IMO.
Jac usually want feeding at approx every 3 - 3 1/2 hrs but he does sleep from 8pm-7am at night.

Hope this helps

xx

Mia takes almost the hour, have sometimes known her to take more. But she does need winding alot. On her 5:30 feed in the morning though she takes it really quickly and is back in bed in no time.

I would say 3 hourly feeds at his age.
Ruby gulps down her bottle! 10-15 mins to take 8oz sometimes...

wow that is fast! and does she take whole bottle each time? do i just keep going until i think he has had enough as i am doing? or have a cut off point? but that sounds cruel....

No she doesn't take the whole bottle every time...sometimes she'll take only 4-5oz. She stops taking it when she's had enough. I would let him keep going for as long as wants if he's still drinking. If he takes too much, he'll spit it up. Are you using fast enough teats btw?'

We've been through all sorts of phases with Seren, when she was really young like your LO, she'd rarely finish it within half an hour, sometimes I would be there for up to an hour. I fed her every 3hrs from when she finished the bottle.
Now she can drain a 7oz bottle in 5-10mins and without needing winding.

Oliver is fed every 3 hours, if he wants more in between he is given water, most of the time he goes 3 1/2 to 4 hours during the day and 5 to 6 hours at night. I make 6oz bottles but he only takes between 4 to 5 ozs. I let him drink until he starts to spit it all out as he is taking it. It takes between 5 to 10 minutes for him to feed then at night 20 minutes top to settle again. During the day I try to keep him awake for at least an hour but sometimes he just drifts off. Hope this helps, take care :hugs: XX

hmmm you got me wondering if the teats are right now... but if he takes it faster at night does that mean they are ok? In the day he is prone to falling asleep while eating but i thought that was normal or could it be a sign that the sucking is making him tired?

All these if buts and maybes gonna send me doolally lol

:) I've been going doolally today

What teats are you using? I've found I've had to move to the next stage teats just before the recommended age (we use Avent stage 3, for 3 months plus, at the mo)

:D we are using Dr Brown bottles so the first stage teat for that, have read the second level 2 teat is for 3months + somewhere so i guess i could buy some and have ago as he'll need them in the future!

Talking about doolally though he has actually done really well today not taking as long to drink his bottles lol typical :dohh:
