How long until your first period after MC?

I found out on August 21st that we had sadly had a MMC which we decided to wait it out to miscarry naturally. It took a while but on September 9th I passed the sac. I went on to bleed and spot for a further week before having just the odd little bit of spotting on the 17th and 18th. We decided that we wanted to essentially try NTNP until my first period but after doing a bit of thinking there is every chance that I could have ovulated this week and we've inadvertently been making the most of that

I've been thinking when I would like to POAS if AF doesn't show. I think the plan is to test a week tomorrow (29 days since I started bleeding which is my average cycle length) and if there's nothing or only a squinter I'll test again on the Wednesday (29 days since I passed the sac).

I was just wondering how long it took for you to have your first period after a miscarriage?

I had a d&c so not sure if it's the same. Mine started about 5 weeks after. 4-6 weeks is the average.

mine started two weeks after the bleeding stopped, but I bled for 5 weeks, so it was quite drawn out. It's really different for each woman, I wish there was a simple rule. Also its possible your cycle length may be different, after my first MC it changed from 30 days to 33. After my first we ntnp too, but its really hard to pinpoint when ovulation will/has happened after MC before AF, which makes trying to decide when to POAS really hard! I think its a good idea to have a set date and yet keep POAS every week until you get your BFP or AF shows up. Good luck, I hope you both get your sticky rainbows soon x

I am sorry for your loss honey.

I agree with the ladies as it varies. It's been a little over 4 weeks for me and no AF yet.

I should have said that I know that it varies :dohh: I'm just looking for a rough idea as I know its different for everyone. I know its a different case but I had my first period right on time after my surgery for my ectopic so I'm hopeful of something similar here. Or no AF at all!!

I've had two mc's this year (January and May), both at 9 weeks and both times I had a d&c. With the first one I got my period 7 weeks later (was still getting positive pregnancy tests 3 weeks after the d&c). With the 2nd one I got my period right at 4 weeks to the day of my d&c. And my recovery from both d&c's was almost identical.

We took the summer off to have fun and I just found out last week that I'm pregnant again (so nervous and excited!). Wishing you well, and hoping you get some good news soon. <3

I've only had one natural miscarriage, my other two were D&Cs, but I don't think D&C is what you're looking for. With my natural, I bled for a total of 28 days from the start of spotting until I passed everything and then got my period 21 days after I completely stopped bleeding. So I guess it depends upon when you go by. If you go by the time you begin bleeding at all, about 4-8 weeks. If you go by the time you pass everything, usually about the same time you'd normally get your period. Hope this helps and sorry about your loss :hugs:

As a side note, with one of my D&Cs, I started bleeding when my levels got down to 40s/50s. I didn't get betas done with my natural so I have no idea what my levels were when I got my period.

I am so sorry for your loss. :(

It took me 7 weeks to get my first period after a loss at 4.5 weeks. I think that maybe I'm on th outer edge of normal there, though. Most people seem to recover quickly after very early losses. It's crazy how different we all are.

After my MC at 4.5 weeks at the beginning of the year I had a normal cycle. This one I baby was measuring 8+3 but I didn't miscarry until what would have been 12+2. Just waiting patiently for AF. We were NTNP this month but I don't think we'll have caught it!

I have been curious about this too. I started having a mc on Sept 5. I was only 5+5 so it was natural. My cycles are normally 35 days. I know a mc isn't a normal cycle. I bled for 19 days. It has been 11 days since any spotting has stopped. Amd 20 days since everything passed. I am on "cd 31" if start of bleeding is cd1 (as of Oct 6) so I am 4 days away from normal cycle time. I am hoping af shows up on time. But I will be glad to let you know what happens. And please update.
It seems to vary so much.

Good Morning Ladies!

Any updates?

Biscuits - Did you say you were pregnant? Congratulations honey... I hope I read that right.

I've started my first af today after a d&c 5 weeks and 3 days ago!

Great news dinky! Mine started last week and is on its way out now.

You are so close to ttc. Congratulations!!

How are you feeling?

I'm actually quite excited thanks :) I'm glad I know my body's finally getting back on track and I'm looking forward to my next tww and looking for ovulation symptoms! I'm glad to hear your body's back on track too :) are you ttc this month? How are you feeling?

Hey dinky - yes I do plan ttc this month. I feel okay - just a little nervous about the process. My first pregnancy, while it ended, was completed unplanned. Since I never thought I could have children - the whole trying process is new and I am not looking forward to the ups and downs that come with it.

However, I am all in and will go through the ups and downs in hopes that it ends in a pregnancy. Other than that - I am really excited to be at a place where I can try..

I'm still waiting. I miscarried four weeks ago tomorrow so I'm expecting AF from any time now. trying to be patient. I just want everything to get back to normal!

Hang in there LynAnne - it will be here before you know it :-)..
