So you can get housework done etc? I realise most of you probably use nap time but that's not an option here because he barely sleeps and needs to sleep on me (and hates the sling)

When awake I find I can get a couple of minutes before he starts fussing and crying. The house looks terrible and I get no time for basics like cutting my nails! I barely get to brush my teeth!

Oh no, that's tough :(
My son was like that (he had silent reflux) but luckily he would settle in the wrap, in fact that's where he loved to be all day long. Do you have a partner who can take him for a bit in the evening or can do the housework when he gets in? It won't be like this forever so I would do the bare minimum around the house for now.

My lo will only nap on me and will not sleep in the wrap but is happy to sit in it for 20 mins. He will happily sit in his bouncer or Playmat for 10 mins but that's about it. I try and do 10 mins of things in that time he is happy I only do the minimum a day and tend to hoover with him in the wrap as he's happy to watch and I will admit to leaving the hoover running if he's happy in his bouncer to nip and do something else it seems to keep him happy xx

At that age, I couldn't clean a single thing (unless it was a one-handed job) because he would only nap while being held, and would scream if I put him down even for a minute. It was so difficult that I couldn't even use the restroom until hubby came home on his lunch break. The dishes would not get done until hubby was home for the day. Major cleaning only got done on the weekends.

It gets better, I promise. :flower:

At 3 months, probably not at all still and even at 4-5 months, not long enough to get any really useful tasks done. I don't think my daughter really happily played by herself for more than a minute or two until closer to 8 months old and then only with me close by in the same room. I got things done by using a wrap. She would either spend awake time in the wrap, in which case I'd talk to her and tell her about what I was doing and she could watch (also good because being worn counts as tummy time too, so was good for her back and neck strength), or I'd wear her during a nap and go about what I needed to do. She always slept on me or in the wrap for naps, so I didn't have "free time" per se during naps unless I wore her. That said, my husband also did a lot before he went to work (like the dishes or the hoovering) or we'd switch off when he got home and showered, he'd take her or wear her in the wrap, and I'd do some tidying up and start dinner or vice versa. Any big jobs, like cleaning the bathroom or cleaning the whole kitchen, got done on the weekend when he was home, but I was able to do enough during the day to at least get by using the wrap.

Gosh I must be really lucky. DS2 will happily roll around on the floor or sit in his chair and watch me. He doesnt need held for naps etc , during the day he sleeps in his chair and at night he just goes straight down too no fuss. DS1 is only 2 though so I think it helps that he also enrertains bubs just by being there.

I actually had a funny moment earlier, DS1 was napping on the couch and DS2 was playing on the floor - DS2 kept shouting and gurgling really loudly, I swear he was trying to wake his brother up!

My first baby was exactly the same as this! It's so hard... But know this... It isn't what you do always. Babies are not all the same, our daughter now eleven weeks is so much easier than her brother so far... I can leave the room and moving her between a swing, bouncer and gym I can get on with jobs.
