Eva is eating a lot of solids now, she seems to really enjoy her food and has 3 meals a day. since increasing her solids she hasn't been as eager to bf and I've completely stopped giving her lunchtime feed. She now has 3 feeds in the day and still 1 night feed, but I was thinking about cutting out her teatime feed too so she just has breakfast feed, bedtime feed and night feed. The problem is, she's reluctant to take any water/juice/formula from any beaker/cup/bottle. I offer a drink at every meal and she might have a couple of sips, but that's about it. I'm worried she might not get enough fluids if I cut her bf's down to just 3 a day. How many bf's do your 7-8 month olds get?

My 9-month-old still has 5 feeds per day (including the night, argh!!), it was the same at 7-8 months, but I think he does not always take that much in maybe. He also has sips of formula with food.

Morning and night with the odd afternoon one but if she'd not dropped any I'd carry on till she did. Does she 'ask' to be fed or do you offer it to her? :)

Oliver is also 7 1/2 months and is on 3 solid feeds per day. He has 3 to 4 bf's a day, plus a bedtime feed. He doesn't have fluids from any other source. I ofer him water with a sippy cup every solid feed time, but no luck yet.

I'd be tempted to not drop any feeds at all until LO is ready. Why do you feel you need to drop a feed? I'm sure when she is ready to drink water and drop a feed, she'll let you know!

it really depends, sometimes she'll quite happily go from morning til bedtime without a feed, and other days she'll demand a boob 3 or 4 times a day. I try not to offer and let her "ask" but sometimes when I know she's just tired I'll give in and offer her a feed to get her off to sleep.

Hey kat, I'm working again now just a few evenings a week to start with so I'd like her to be more flexible iyswim! not that i can expect a 7 month old to be! But it's worth a try! also we're going to majorca in august and I don't want to have to bf during the day. It sounds selfish i know!

We're on 3 BF in the day and about 2 in the night  She also drinks from a cup though too so i guess she's a thirsty baby. Also Tabs used BF to go to sleep :dohh: or if she's upset i dont think she needs it at all anymore..

I'd just try not to be tempted to offer it - easier said than done I know :dohh:
