Hi

Just had first ever egg retrieval following short protocol. I'm 38, DH 45 and had vasectomy reversal which has given a low sperm count hence ICSI needed. My FSH has been very good but AMH only 4.5. They retrieved 10 follicles which produced 7 eggs (yesterday). Today I've found out 1 was discounted and 4 of the remaining eggs fertilised. Am now just worrying is this enough and will they still be ok when they look again on Monday? I've had no symptoms during the protocol or since, was wondering if this is usual good/bad?

Hi there, I don't know the answer from a medical point of view, but from what I have read four fertilizing is pretty good. You only need one or two to make good progress for implantation, so hopefully this will be the case for you. It is great news you have got this far and responded well to drugs etc. Good luck! x

I agree....4 fertilised from 7 eggs is a good result, what happens is that they will check progression and prior to your embryo transfer they will grade the embryos, each lab has a slightly different system, also some labs do ET after 2 days others leave to blastocyst which means ET 5 days later. All you need are 1-2 embryos in the upper grades for a good chance of success. They will only freeze high grade embryos but always transfer the best looking ones on the day. The problem is that all of the results are based on statistics.

My friend was told she had no chance of pregnancy 2 half decent embryos following ICSI and a uterine lining of 2mm (CRAP)! They told her to start considering surrogacy, even before they transferred the embryos....she was only 30 and cos they told her she had little or no chance of success she asked for both embryos to be transferred, she gave birth to two healthy little boys last week....so be positive about your chances whatever the outcome....it only needs 1 little embryo to take x

Hi just to say had a day 3 transfer eight cell grade a and six cell grade a. they were trying to see if the six cell became eight before transfer but hadn't by then, does anyine know the chances this will give
