How many weeks pregnant do they book you in for a planned C-section. I had a emergency section with my Little girl and they have sugested I book in for one next time due to complications with my lg's birth.

Im supposed to be a bridesmaid for my best friend at 38.5weeks, which I dont mind if baby is inside, but a def no no if iv a newborn and recovering from c-sec. I know Im crazy for saying yes to being a bridesmaid at all ^^^

That really depends on the types of complications you experienced along with the type of scar you have. I had an EMCS over 5 years ago. When the doctor thought I'd had a regular low transverse uterine incision, my c-section was going to be scheduled at 39 weeks. When they finally received my old paperwork and found out that it was an inverted T uterine incision, they scheduled it for 37 weeks to avoid all possibility of labor.

It depends on the situation. My hospital is set on no planned before 39w.
:flower:

I had a EMCS with DS because he was back to back and after 3hrs of pushing he was just too stuck to come out that way. He was so stuck that even in surgery they couldn't get him out. It finally came to a point that they had to forcefully pull him out which casued my uterus to rip up both sides. This time I have been scheduled for a CS at 37.5 weeks because they don't want me going into labour on my own.

But my cousin is scheduled for a CS for a breech baby 2 days before her due date. Just depends on your situation.

Mine has been scheduled for when I will be 40 + 1
They said they had no available theatre slots until then as they are so busy. I'm in a panic as this is my third child and I fear I could go into labour early!

It's typically after 39 weeks like said here. Unless you have diabetes or high BP at the end. I'm diabetic so they won't let me go past 38 weeks and had both babes at 37.5 weeks.

hi,
im about 21 weeks, and the dr just scheduled my c-section,this past Friday, for June 26th.
I will be on my 40th week.
i wanted to do it sooner to avoid actually going into labor before the csection, but they try to keep the baby inside at least 40 weeks.
so....
June 26th it is. lol

I asked for an earlier date as well .. But I got a no :(

i know! i think its crazy they wait so long....I know its healthier for the baby...and im no doctor.....but i would THINK that they would want to avoid women with scheduled csections to go into labor...
but dr knows best ...right? lol

I've been told by consultant that it will be as close to 39 week as possible depending on fitting me in! Hopefully will hear tomo as its only next week and I need to start mentally preparing myself!

I agree it's a little crazy .. Especially when it's not a first baby and often subsequent babies appear earlier. I'm sure it's more risky going into labour and having an emergency section than just fitting us in a little sooner. My last emergency section was so stressful. I've had a growth scan and my baby is already a good size (bigger than my other children when they were born!) so I don't think it would be a major issue if she was born at 38/39 weeks. It would certainly be less of a worry for me!
I'm booked in for next Thursday .. Keeping legs crossed she doesn't come early!

NEXT WEEK!!!!???
WOW!!!
well good luck!!!!

dont move so baby stays in! hhaha

Haha I know! I'm not doing anything too strenuous! Although having an 18 month old it can't be avoided really! My son was born at 39 weeks and this baby is measuring 40+ weeks!

At my hospital they don't book anyone in before 39 weeks for an elective section.

I'll be 39+1 when I go in to have bubs because I ruptured in labour with DD....I had my DD by EMCS at bang on 39 weeks.

When I asked my midwife about it she said if I go into labour early I have to get straight onto Delivery Suite as i'm not allowed to have full contractions because of my risk of rupturing again and it'd be classed as a "Semi Emergency Section"

Seems a bit mad to me but hey ho lol
