My baby was born 2.5 days ago, but due to a tongue-tight she was not able to latch properly and completely hurt my nipples. I am letting them heal, working with a LC and giving her expressed milk via finger-feeding. I was told to pump every two hours. Right now I am getting 60 mls every two hours (I pump for 15 mins). She definitely cannot eat that much. How much should I pump? The LC said 15 mins every two hours. It doesn't empty my breasts, but produces too much milk.

Thank you so much. I am new to breastfeeding, not being able to feed her upsets me, so I want to at least do the pumping part correctly.

Have they talked about fixing the tounge tie? its a simple cut? Anyways here is a site that may help.

") How much should my baby be eating?

This really depends on your baby. The average baby will eat about 30oz a day usually beginning around 9-12 weeks until around 6mo. Some will eat more and some will eat less. Don't compare your BM eating infant to a FF infant. BM and formula are not the same. Most FF infants eat more per meal than BF babies.
