My Lo is three weeks and she is a little piggy! Im mixing expressed milk and formula! she has 6feeds a day normally, going between 3-4hours between feeds and is sleeping about 5hours in the night! shes having roughly 140mls per feed most feeds! sometimes she'll have less but wakes much earlier if thats the case! im worried im not doing it right! am i not feeding her often enough and too much when she does feed! Havent had her weighed this week but she looks and feels like shes putting on weight! whats the norm? (she was7lb 5oz born and was 7.13 last time she was weighed) x

I fed on demand. My youngest baby took 1/2 ounce of expressed milk every 2 hours for about 3 weeks, then went to 1 ounce every 3 hours until around 5-6 weeks, then jumped to 2 ounces every 4 hours for quite a while. How much is your baby eating per feeding? I mean, if your baby is happy and is being fed whenever she asks for food, then she's perfect.

My son is also three weeks old. He feeds on 4oz every 3 hours and he is a good sleeper at night. In fact, all the little bugger does is sleep! i rarely get to see his gorgeous big and bright eyes because he is always dozing :-( xx

Don't worry. Yes 6 feeds a day is not a lot, but with amount of milk she drinks, I wouldn't be too concerned. Does she have enough wet diapers? a rule of thumb is to multiply baby's weight by 2.5 to get a rough idea of how much your baby should get. My LO was born 6lb 2oz and is now 7 lb 8oz; she's just started to drink 3-4 oz and now seems to be sleeping 3.5 to 4 hours at a time during the night (finally:happydance:). Every baby is different. As for the weight gain, they like to see at least 7oz/week, so roughly 1oz/day.

For babies on formula 3-4 hourly feedings is completely normal hun. Francesca fed every 3-4hrs from birth starting at 3oz feeds in hospital, 4oz feeds at 1 week old moving up to 5oz feeds at 3 weeks old.

You can't overfeed a baby, they will spit up any excess. You're doing absolutely fine love - feed on demand and let her have as much as she needs xxx

As a newborn, Anabella could easily have 5oz a time, up to 5 times a day (we fed on demand). I was wondering how we would ever keep up with her as she got bigger!! But now as a big, chunky 6 month old, she has between 4 and 5 7oz bottles a day and this more than satisfies her!

Just go with it, babies know what they need and can regulate their own intake without you having to worry.

Dont get what just happened! she had 3oz of expressed milk then woke an hour later for a top up of formula(1oz)and then threw it back up all over me and went back to sleep ten mins later? should i be worried? nervous about giving her her next feed now! scared she'll be sick in the night and i wont wake up! x

That's very common, it gets better as baby gets older. If it happens when she sleeps don't worry she will turn her head on the side so she won't choke, and chances are she'll start crying after and you'll wake up. That's what DD does.
