How much does ur 4 week old take?

Hiya ladies!

As the title says really...how much formula does or did ur 4 week old take?

Oliver has been takin 4oz every 4 hours but draining all his bottles, every single one!

He has reflux and when weve tried him with 5oz bottles, it seems to aggrivate his reflux!

My lady does 4-6 every 4-6 hours....kindly putting the 6 hour stint at nighttime!

That's because if you fill the tummy the milk is closer to the top and therefore easier to come back up again. You could try feeding him every 3hrs as he might then be happier with a 4oz bottle - generally if they're draining bottles everytime then that's the sign to go up an oz. I would say in your case tho feeding slightly more often would be better than giving more at each feed

Aubrey has been taking 3oz every 2-4 hrs, but I think tonight i'm gonna try her with 4oz because she's draining the 3oz now.

Just realized our bubbas were born on the same day!

Fairykate - the doctor told us not to feed him before the 4 hours! Im gonna fone the doctors today and get an appoitment so i can ask!

Nicoletta - aah so they were! A wee easter baby for u too! How did the 4oz bottle go? Did she take it? Xxxx

I would also suggest feeding a little more frequently because of his reflux!

Mine is a wee beast...eating 4-5oz every 2-3hrs. So 30+oz in 24hrs.

I would agree with pp in trying to do less more frequently....dont think parker ever gone 4hrs with out food.

She took the 4oz alright, she's been taking 4oz maybe twice a day since I first tried now, but most of her feeds she's still only taking 3oz. But this is how she was when I went up from 2 to 3, so I'd say in the next week or 2 she will be taking 4oz almost every time!

I agree with feeding more frequent. My LO was taking 5oz every 3-4 hours at 4 weeks

At 4 weeks my daughter was taking 3 oz about 7 times per day

at 4 weeks Livy was draning 4 ounces every three hours so we started making up 5 ounces after speaking to HV, she would then generaly take 5 ounces ever other feed but still feed every 3 hours(ish). The HV said that a baby wont actualy over eat so if they are asking for more they need it and the directions on FF is just a guide

My daughter (4 weeks as of today) has reflux issues as well. She is also on the small side and has had trouble gaining weight. She eats 2 - 2.5oz every 2 hours.

You might what to try smaller more frequent feedings to help combat the reflux?

4oz x 6 feeding per day (every 4 hours) = 24 oz per day

So maybe try 3 oz every 3 hours, which will still equal 24 oz per day? Then if you are wanting to increase him from there it won't be as much volume in his stomach at a time and shouldn't aggravate his reflux.

My LO has 4oz bottles normally every 3-4 hours. But then she sometimes sleeps straight through the 3 hours during the day (and she sleeps from about 11pm/12pm until 6am/7am)....Sometimes like once a day she will want a 5oz bottle but we tried her on 5oz and she wouldn't drink it all or if she did she would sick it back up.
