Aso my baby is 4 weeks old and th llast few days after his bottles he still seems hungry! He crys and opens his mouth and moves his head around like hes looking for more and sucks on his hands!

Im feeding him 120mls/4 ounces every 3 hours like it says on the tin. Hes about 10lb now so according to what ive read that should be enough but he still wants more so shall i give it to him?
Ive tried him on 150mls/5 ounces a couple of times and he as drank it all but my husband says thats too much and hes going to be overweight!

Ive thought about giving him 150mls/5 ounces every 4 hours instead or 60mls/3 ounces every 2 hours but i dont know if either will satisfy him!!

How much did your 4 week old have? what would you do if your baby still seems hungry after his bottle even tho he should be getting enough?

You can't overfeed an infant, they self regulate. Feed him as much as he wants. You know he's had enough when he's not interested in it anymore and there's still a little bit left in the bottle. If he's draining his bottles, up them up an ounce, if he's still draining them, up it another ounce. They're all different, don't go by what the can says, that's just an estimate.

My LO is 10lbs and he's just 2 and a half weeks. I'm going to increase his feeds to 150mls tomorrow as he's draining the bottle (120mls) and still looks for more after. My LO wants a feed every 3-4 hours.

You can't overfeed a baby... if they're hungry they will eat, if not they wont. If they do take too much in, they just spit/throw up.

:hugs:

just add an extra ounce to the bottles....that way if he wants it, he'll finish and if not you're not throwing away too much.

My LO was BF still at 4 weeks but when we switched at 8 weeks she still only took 2-3 oz bottles for a long time

4 wk old taking between 1-6 oz, every 2hrs if no sleep, 3-5 hrs if sleep between. :)

I agree with others. You can't over feed a newborn and shouldn't deny food if their still hungry. My 2 week old drinks 4oz at most feeds every 2-3 hours. I'm sure by 4 weeks it will be 6oz.

I had to start making my DD3 5oz bottles at 2.5 weeks old. She is now 12 weeks and takes 6-7oz every 2.5-3 hours (but does sttn now). Just feed your baby whenever and however much they want. I was worried initially about my baby gaining too much weight, but even with all the milk she drinks she has stayed on the same centile line since birth. xx

My LO is 4 weeks and has 5ozs in each bottle and 7 bottles a day. Sometimes he leaves an ounce but only once or twice a day. I will start offering 6 oz bottles soon if he keeps draining the 5ozs.

I fretted about amounts this time but I do think baby knows themselves what they need. I always let DS1 have what he wanted (as he had problems eating at first) and technically he had more than he was supposed to - at 10 weeks he was having 36 ozs a day and he's not overweight now. He also dropped to 5 bottles a day and dropped night feeds by 7 weeks and I don't know if he'd have managed that if I'd restricted the amount in his bottles.

My lo is 5 weeks and takes 160ml each feed. 6/7 times a day

My DD had 3oz every 3 hours at 4 weeks, we've only just upped her to 4oz every 3hours.
