DD2 doesn't seem to poo as much as I remember dd1. I think I remember dd1 going several times a day, dd2 isn't even going every day? That being said I don't know if she is constipated ... She did one slightly suspicious looking BM which had a hint of green, but the last one (not yesterday but day before) seemed fine and she wasn't crying while she did it????

but she has been v upset yesterday and starting to again today. I'm wondering if she has trapped wind she is very stiff, kind of arching her back, like I'm trying to keep her upright and close to me to bring up wind (also using infacol with every feed) but she pulls her head away from me which I imagine must put a strain on her neck (?!)

Don't know whether to look into changing milk? Currently on cow and gate or changing bottles currently using mam. But don't want to be too hasty incase it's nothing to do with that.

I think there is wide variation at that age. I think they would ideally like to see them go every day or every other day, but my daughter routinely went about every 3-4 days, sometimes even every 5 days, when she was BF and then FF. My friends' daughter went several times a day. As long as it isn't hard and pellet like, it's fine. I found tummy massage and the tiger in the tree pose with massage helped a lot, as did using gripe water when it had really been awhile (usually got things moving within about 6 hours). I'm not sure what age gripe water is suitable from, but it might not be til 4 weeks? Anyway, I would say that sounds fine, as long as it's soft rather than hard.

Sounds similar to my wee one. Gripe water made my wee one really sick so we just used infacol, however she eventually was diagnosed with a cows milk allergy so its worth keeping an eye on.

My 3 week old goes a couple of times a day at the minute. It varies from baby to baby but if your LO seems uncomfortable I would consider either speaking to your HV or moving into comfort milk. DD1 has health issues and she was constipated as a baby and it's not fun for anyone involved. We're also using infacol as baby has issues with wind. Not so much bringing it up as coming out the other end!

Thanks for replies :) I phoned health visitor she said they don't have to poo everyday so that's good (google gave me differing answers! lol)
Since posting this she did another suspicious looking poo (after I massaged her tummy) like the one I described, hint of green, kind of came out and stayed the shape of a tube which I thought was weird, bit too solid for my liking, and then once that passed it seemed to improve a bit. HV said I could give a little water.
Also my other HV suggested ready made formula can cause constipation so I've stopped using that (was at night time - mainly in the beginning as I had hurt my pelvis so to save me going up and down the stairs) .. she also said that the infacol could cause it?... I'm not sure about this because another HV said it would help... so I don't know. She said try her without it and see how she goes.
Anywho since doing these things she has pooed more and it has been much runnier :happydance: I'm guessing it's probably the water... I don't remember having to give my older daughter water at this age I feel like some people would frown upon it maybe but then again I think it's helped ?!
She's been better since, but I think since stopping the infacol she does seem to bring up a bit of milk whereas before she didn't and has been a little fussy at times (though nothing like the other day when she was inconsolable) so I might still give her a little bit of that. (maybe?) could always stop again.

I think it says on the packaging they have to be 1 month to have gripe water - I remember that being quite effective for dd1 though.

Thanks for the advice though everyone much appreciated!!

btw the HV never specific how much water to give.. any ideas? (tbf I could phone them again)

Id just give an ounce a day. Babies don't really need any extra water and it can be bad for them if you give them too much x
