Hello - I need some advice please! This might be a bit of a novel thank you in advance for reading/helping!
I had an early m/c - about 5 weeks 2d or 4d - wasn't charting or doing opks yet so not totally sure - a year ago. Well a year and two weeks. Finally got a BPF 10 days ago which was 11 dpo - so happy but also so nervous because of mc before and also I'm 38 and if this one sticks it will be our first baby. So wanted even though we waited a long time (didn't realize we were getting so old - lol!) to be ready to TTC!. Today, almost exactly at the same point the last pregnancy failed (by lmp i'm 5 w 2 d today; by o date maybe subtract 2 days? hpt was nice and clear/not just a smudge on 11 dpo, though!) I had a little light brown discharge/cm - pardon the tmi but not enough to get on underwear, but sill not none and not just creamy as it has been. yikes, panic, etc. Then I searched/read lots, seems maybe light brown is OK? Still so nervous.!!!
I really want to get at least a quantitative hgc done and maybe progesterone (since I've been charting seen my lp is short - I seem to O on day 16 or 17 or maybe eveen 18 - opk gets + on day 16; temp goes up 17 18 or 19 but AF starts day 26 27 or 28 - started taking B6 this cycle don't know if it helped) but I'm out of state all this week so will have to bug someone at insurance company and maybe also regular Dr. to get it. Am I nuts to want blood testing now? I want it so there's a baseline to see if it's doubling as it should or going down but maybe there's no point since can't stop a m/c if it happens. I could at least start preparing myself mentally for it, though ... or stop worrying so much if results are good! Should I try to even get u/s? If so how do I convince dr. or to get it done while i'm away, insurance company person?
currently no blood tests scheduled; seeing RN at midwives' practice July 10 and then u/s and see midwife August 5 - seems too late to me but I'm away for a job the 3 weeks before and they said July 10/that week was too early for u/s. I know (from reading here and other places - thank you!) that if you have u/s too early and don't see heartbeat, etc., it can be very stressful for no good reason because a week or 2 later you can see all is well, but still - I hate waiting and not knowing!
I called my regular Dr. after the bfp on hpt to get insurance referral to midwife and see if I should get a blood test (1st pregnancy my hpt line was very light; dr. sent me for blood test and only reported to me that it was "positive" - turned out (when I had the m/c I found out) it was only 11 and I was really mad that she hadn't told me that it was so low so I wouldn't get hopes up; she said it just meant I was like 5 minutes pregnant.. Anyway) and haven't even heard back from them - need to call tomorrow anyway to make sure referral goes through. Scheduling person at midwives' practice didn't seem to think tests were needed sooner than that first appointment (last year they did blood type and I'm an rh+ so no worry about that with a m/c at least).
So - should I try to get testing done this week even though I'm away? Or next week as soon as I'm home? and what do I say to get the referrals I'd need?
Thanks!
-worried but trying to stay hopeful ...
