How Much Solid Food Does Your 8-9 Month Old Eat?

My DD is BF, and we weaned her just around 6 months but she was very ready and took to all her food very well. She eats a lot of finger foods or "normal" food (has from the start), topped up by homemade purees etc so she is getting a really good mixture and loves her food!

However, I am worried I am OVER feeding her solids because she simply does NOT refuse food or get to the point where she turns her head because she is "full". I know all babies are different, but when I asked the HV she said to feed her until she refused food to see how much she would eat and that night she ate an entire fillet of haddock, a baby bowl full of rice, and a large plate full of steamed carrots and parsnips before I said we had to stop as that was almost an adults sized meal and she still didn't "stop" on her own.

So, because I have no indication from her how much she really needs and how much of it is for pleasure, I was wondering if you lovelies could detail what your little ones eat per day solid food wise so I can get some comparison? She is pooing like 4-5 times a day massive poos so I am really concerned that she is being overfed, and would like a benchmark to work with.

BTW, she still nurses 4x a day and 1x a night, and is getting plenty of wet nappies so I know she is getting good top ups on breast milk in between meals.

Thanks!

I titled it something different but just posted about basically this same topic!

My little guy will also eat and eat and does not seem to stop himself. I cannot be sure but I felt like he gave himself a tummy ache the other night when I kept giving him food!

This morning I cut him off but I don't know if it was the right thing to do. He just kept eating and it seemed like so much....

He does BLW so he puts it in his mouth himself.

He's so slim and skinny (but long) so it can't hurt him to put on some weight but I do wonder.

This morning he ate a small blueberry pancake, two banana oatmeal balls, 1/3 banana, a small kiwi, the neck of a pear and wanted more so I gave him some spoonfuls of yogurt and he would still eat more if I gave it to him.

I will be curious if others have ideas about this!

My LO is also a pig! We always laugh because on his nursery feedback sheet 'refused' or 'tried' is never ticked as he stuffs himself with whatever is offered. Yesterday he ate (as well as two 8oz bottles, a 4oz bottle and a 12o bedtime bottle): a whole croissant spread with pear purée, watermelon and porridge, then a snack and a flatbread pizza AND roasted half pepper stuffed with veggies and cheese.

My LO is fully BLW but I'm not sure I believe that 'he knows when he's full'... He's also long and lean and is full of beans all of the time.

Interesting my little one is a week off 6 months and we've just started weaning for lunch she had a pot of steamed veg and was still looking for more so gave her half a rusk then had a massive hissy fit when that was finished. I still want breast milk to be taken 8 times a day so stopped but she would of kept going!!!
