My lo is 5 weeks old tomorrow and had started taking 5oz of milk every 3 hours but now she has started only takin 4 and even then she's spitting most of it out. I kinda feel she should maybe takin more than this by now as she was taking 3.5 at birth. How much does ur lo take and how often? Ive tried speaking to my hv about it but id be better talking to brick wall

Hannah's almost 4 months and only takes 4-5 ounces every 4 hours. She could have hit a growth spurt during the time she was taking more formula.

How much does weigh? My HV told me to halve their weight and that will tell you how much they should be having at a feed. I was worried cos Ollie has been having 4oz the past few days every 3-4 hours and he's suddenly dropped to 2-3oz. My HV said as his weight is 6lb 12oz then he should be having about 3-3.5oz so not to worry that he's dropped x

Jasmine has 6-7oz but will only take 3 bottles a day, she has been weaned though, when Jasmine was around 6months she would only take around 4-5oz so your LO should be fine x

They do say that LO's are supposed to take 2.5 times their weight (average) in feeds per day. But Hannah's never taken that much, she's always eaten lower than what the guidelines say she is supposed to  Certainly hasn't hurt her weight gain though

My lo was weighed yest at 5+1 weeks and weighs 10lb 7oz (weighed 6lb 15oz at birth), hv at clinic told me not to worry about the lack of feeding as lo is puttin on weight at a steady pace but still feel she should be taking more, now shes falling asleep after only 2oz and its a real struggle to get her to take somemore :(

Babies go through times like that, I know it can be worrying but she's gaining weight and that's what matters.

Yeah my HV said that too, you can work it out by either working out 2.5 times their body weight and that gives you the amount they should have in 24 hours or halving their body weight to get the amount of milk they should be having at each feed. I'm the same as you Vicki, Ollie doesn't keep with the guidelines but is gaining fine so I'm not worrying x
