At the moment LO feeds pretty much every two hours overnight, to me this is totally normal, it's hard but it doesn't last forever!

So I was really shocked today when hubs Gran told me I needed to talk to a Dr about how much he's feeding overnight?!?! He's only 6 weeks!! What on earth?? :nope:

So how often are you up in the night with your little one? And who else has had crazy comments from 'helpful' older relatives?

my DD is nearly 8 weeks and she feeds every 2/3 hours on a night, sometimes more often during the day (although we had a stretch of about 4 hours last night!)

I don't know anyone in my family (including aunties etc) who BF so a few people have commented on how I feed her but I think its their lack of experience more than anything.. I just brush it off and continue to feed LO when she needs it

I am the exact same. All of our older relatives seem to have formula fed which would make the night time feeds different. Plus I think people actually forget how it actually was.

Baby is just about 7 weeks and he eats every 2 hrs at night but if he cluster feeds in the evenings for over 4 hrs (eats 4 hrs in a row), he will sleep for up to 4 hrs immediately after.

Every 2 hours or less.

Our parents forget that the norm for them was probably formula, baby rice and strict 4 hour routine which isnt normal for a baby

I have a 4 week old and he feeds every 2-3 hrs through day and then 2 hours at night. I have been told completely normal esp with the heat. I do give him a bottle for his last feed and it doesn't make him go any longer! I just keep thinking it won't last forever!

All night boobie fest at that age. I co-slept so baby would just sleep with a boobie in their mouth most of the night and every time they stirred they'd eat.

If you think about every other mammal and all non western cultures babies sleep in the same bed as the mother. Whether you choose to co-sleep or not doesn't change the biology of the baby in that they are designed to breastfeed very frequently including over night.

Totally normal! Older relatives are going by formula feeding memories normally, ignore them!

Wow, mine is 6 wks, I only get up once. She goes 6-7 hrs, i nurse her, then 4 hrs after her feed. My first baby did the same. Maybe because she's a big baby ( height and weight at 95%) ?? How do you guys do every 2-3 all night? Whoa.

It becomes second nature. When hubby tries to give me a break with expressed milk I have a hard time sleeping for more than 2-3 hours in a row now :dohh:

Yeah, I kinda wish she woke up at a little smaller intervals because I get engorged after about 5 hrs, so I'm awake waiting to hear her be ready to feed! But my pediatrician said go with it, I don't need to wake her because she is growing ok, ( actually she's a chubby little baby) and I don't really know any different because my first was this way at night too. Born a bit over 9 lbs so maybe bigger Tummy's make it a little longer at night? Anyhow, kudos to all of you moms nursing through the night. Nursing is a big time commitment in itself, and you women are awesome!!!
