It arrived yesterday found hb. Had a play for about 20 mins. How often and how long is safe x

I'm not sure what the recommendation is for use. I used mine literally every night from 9 weeks til about 19-20 weeks for about 10 minutes at a time. My little one is fine as far as my doctor can tell.

My manual said "don't use for more than 10 minutes a week". I've not used my for months now , well just once in 2 months, but I don't use it just because the twins never stop kicking so I get my reassurance that way. When I did use it, the moment I heard the heartbeat I would switch it off, so many times it wasn't more than a minute, and probably wasn't more than 10 minutes a week. But at the beginning it was hard to find so I am sure I used it more often than what my manual recommended

I don't tend to use mine anymore, unless he is having a quiet day I have a quick listen in. In the early days however I used it a lot, I've had previous losses so to me, my doppler was a real help to ease my mind.

I'd ask your MW or doctor if your worried x

Ok thanks. If its not safe to use for more than ten minutes im suprised they sell them and do not warn you.

thanks for the warning. I wanted reassurance till my next scan plus it makes it more real. But guess there is no safe way to do so xx

I used mine everyday twice a day for a 5 mins each from 14 weeks till regular movement was established so about 22/23 weeks.

I've no idea if there is any basis though to say what it says in my manual, its probably just covering their backs "just in case". Its most probably just someone's opinion, other people would say more, others less

Yeah its not clear if it can cause miscarriage or ill health xx

But people say this about everything under the sun when pregnant, I think you've got to take it with a pinch of salt and like everything just go for moderation, we all go mad with dopplers at the beginning, its normal when we want to hear the heartbeat

I only use mine till I hear the heart beat then turn it off so max 2 mins and only a couple of times a week , I was wanting to use it daily till I googled and that put me off

Totally agree hun. They do. Pineapples dangerous footspas are dangerous, ive panicked about lots of things lol xx

I love my doppler but have really limited use this pregnancy since 2 sonographers have told me it is a slightly higher frequency than a 2d u/s and I shouldn't use it more than once a week

I think its really bad they do not come with a warning x

I can't really help you with an answer, but I wanted to stop by and tell you how jealous I am!! I have wanted a doppler this entire time being pregnant. I just feel bad asking OH to buy me one when we already spent so much money already.

Bless u hun. There cheap on amazon at £20. But i know exactly what u mean about spending xx

Just browsing this forum (still wtt ). I used my angelsounds daily from 10w with my DD. I was concerned about frequency etc but I could find her heartbeat within 30 seconds or so - used this till about 25w then relied on movement/kicks. If she had a quiet day from 25w to birth, then id use the angelsounds to double-check.

It was a god send for me, after 2 m/c's beforehand, it gave me so much reassurance :)

x

I've used mine everyday from about 9 weeks. I also figure the reassurance I get from it must be more beneficial than not using it and being stressed all the time.

Try to limit it. Doppler is ultrasound technology -- which means that they can cause the tissue to heat up and potentially damage the baby. Dopplers concentrate the waves much more, so they heat up faster, especially if you leave it in place for long periods of time. I personally don't use dopplers at all, but if you really need the reassurance, I would use it a maximum of once a week and only until I found the heartbeat.

Check out this article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11476919

And just because they are sold does not mean they are safe. They are just unregulated right now.
