I have 2 older sons but im sure they both pooed once a day at least. My daughter is 2 weeks old and on cow & gate and seems to only poo every few days and when she does its explosive! She seems like she is struggling to poo but nothing comes out. Trying cooled boiled water but hasn't helped so far. Plenty of wet nappies from her. Anyone got advice?

We're having similar issues with our 3 week old just now. Today she seems really unsettled and seems to be occasionally squeezing out little tiny bits of quite dry (for her) poo. Like the consistency of peanut butter, which seems really dry compared to what she used to be pooing! She tended to be going once per day, but it was Mount Verpoovius when she did. Usually just after we'd taken a nappy off to change her, she'd just poo and poo and poo...

Sorry, I appreciate I'm doing a slight hijack, my point is that I don't have any advice, but the HV is coming tomorrow so I'm going to ask her. Will let you know what she says :)

Our baby is on Aptamil and we get a poo nappy every 3rd day! It is explosive and takes a while to clean up, normally easier to bath her when it happens, asked the HV and she said that it can happen thay way and could just be that she is taking as much as she can from the milk and only producing the waste every so often. She is not concerned though.
She said to give bolied cooled water when she is constipated and the poo is like pellets (which has not happened yet!)

Ye let me know what your HV says. Mine isnt due up till Thursday and i will ask her then but it wud be good to hear what your Hv says as well. My midwife and Hv contradict each others advice all the time and im really not that keen on my HV but as its past 10 days i wont get to see my ncie Midwife anymore :(

My LO is on aptimal and only poos every few days. she gets really really restless just before aswell. I think its normal as long as there wet poos rather then like rabbit poop iykwim x

Well after posting this my daughter has done 4 poo's! they are soft and not hard so she doesnt seem to be constipated. She was in neo natal for a week when she was born on antibiotics and this gave her diarhoea so im wondering if her bowels are just taking a bit longer to regulate themselves?
