How on earth are we going to be able to feed in public! We have had such problems with latching on and feeding, he flails and flaps pulls away pulls off how am I ever going to be able to get him on without the rest of the world seeing the pair lol xx

You might try pumping a few bottles to take with you on the road?

How old is your baby? If you are worried about flashing you could get a breastfeeding cover.
I use two tops, one pulled up and one down and then with babies head there is little on show if she pops on and off as her head mostly hides everything.

Just relax, look at your baby and don't worry about what's going on around you. You can do it! Noone pays attention to what others are doing these days! They are to busy staring at their phones or focusing on their own kids. You will find if covered or uncovered is easier for you. Honestly, don't stress! I've been nursing in public with my kids for years. It's so easy once you get over that 'first time'.

How old is your baby?

I put it off for a while as DD was like this but I've done it a few times now as she's become much better.

Also, for some reason she eats nicely when we're out. Probably because its novel and there are new sights and sounds etc.

He is only a week but feels like a very daughnting idea of feeding him in public, I really don't want to do bottles as we have just stopped using them as we were having such problems latching (reason we started using bottle) and are making such progress I think it confuses him going from one to other, but I guess if I have to I will just wondered how you other ladies managed or any good tips xx

I was worried about this too but we've fed in public a few times now and it's been fine. I always wear a vest top underneath my top/dress, so I can slip the top one down and pull the vest up. So just enough room for my nipple to be out and then I latch him on.

You can always put a muslin over bub before he latches so you feel less self conscious. But I promise once you've done it a couple of times you won't care about other people.

Thank you I do have a nursing scalf just want to have the confidence to do it, as with my daughter I mix fed because I was to worried but this time I want to soaley breastfeed xx

Ahh I am constantly sat there in the middle of a room of people with my boob flopped right out and my son screaming at it, because he's being so fussy at the moment!! You will get used to it. I always wear an easy access top, usually designed for nursing if I know I will probably have to NIP, always carry around a couple of muslins so I can chuck it over if I have to sort LO out before I can put myself away, and try to sit somewhere discrete eg by a corner, with the pushchair in front of me, etc. It is never as bad as you think and you will get used to it! :)

A week old is very young. Chances are it will be much easier in a couple of weeks when you both have the hang of it.

You don't have to do bottles if you don't want to. Some women don't respond well to pumps so it isn't an option anyway; I was one of them so I had no choice but to work with what I had, lol. Besides, mine refused bottles. Anyway, I would try a cover if it bothers you, but if baby won't allow then just don't worry about it-- the most important thing is that baby is fed and it shouldn't mean you can't go anywhere just because baby is a bit of a fidget :)

It's only been a week, hun.

It's going to change so much and so many times yet.

Don't rush yourself. Xxxx

If its been hard getting him to latch onto the breast in the first place, don't let the fear of others small minded opinions ruin that. There is always the option of feeding in the mothers room at first, to help build your confidence, or feeding in your car. But after a while, things will settle down, and he won't fuss as much. Until they reach 6 months, and delatch every 2 seconds to get a glimpse of the world around them :haha:
