I'm a week tomorrow past d&c I have very light spotting so will wait til that stops but when did you first have sex after a miscarriage? I'm nervous as I don't want to do it to soon and risk infection. Xx

We waited until all bleeding and spotting stopped. 10 days.
I'm so sorry you're going through this.

My OB said to wait 4 weeks before sex to avoid infection. I thought that was extreme and did my own research/talked to others. Pretty much everyone/everything else said either 10 days or 2 weeks. We did it for the first time at 14 days exactly.

My husband is a family doctor. He was a little wary at first, but agreed on day 14. He has also been monitoring me for signs of infection and there hasn't been anything. He thinks we're fine and that my OB was just over the top with his 4 weeks recommendation.\

I should add that all spotting had ended by day 5 and I stopped using a pad on day 3 so bleeding had been over for a while by then.

Thank you. Still spotting on and off so il wait til that has stopped xx

I had a d&c (so it may be slightly different for a natural miscarriage), but I was told at discharge to wait 2-3 weeks. We waited about 2.5 weeks. Personally, I would give it at least several days to a week after any bleeding/spotting stops just to make sure all is okay. I had just spotting about 6 days after and thought it was stopping and then suddenly had a very heavy bleed almost out of nowhere (like gushing and clots for about 2 hours), and then a few more days of bleeding and then spotting after that. It all finally stopped just shy of 2 weeks. But also just listen to your body and generally how you're feeling. I found it much more emotional than I expected it would be, even though I felt well and ready.
