DD ( and DS) is such a messy eater. Even if I put a long sleeve bib on hershe manages to get food on her clothes. And in her nnappy. Im so sick of her clothes being ruined after a single wear. I usually buy her supermarket clothes or primark stuff because she trashes it so quickly. But its still getting a little expensive. I used some little angels oxi stuff on some strawberry juice she got on her dress today and was impressed it came straight out but I did that straight away while it was still wet. How do I get dried stains out?

I either soaked in oxiclean before washing or used spray zout before putting in the washer. Both work great (I am in the US)

For dried stains I will sometimes try to soak them in a bowl with a combination of water, dish soap, and laundry detergent. Then I'll wash and let it air dry. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I was able to save her Easter dress that I love so much this way. :dohh:

I find vanish gold works really well. My LOs have both LOVED tomato, they would both live on it if they could lol. DD1s clothes got ruined from the tomato juice though. I bought vanish gold powder when we started weaning DD2 and her clothes and bibs have all cleaned up brilliantly. I just soak them in the sink with a little vanish gold, give them a scrub just before i put them in the machine and wash with persil non bio xx

Vanish gel, then let them sit for a couple hours for it to set in, then I soak in hot soapy water overnight. Usually I put the Vanish on as she's having her bath and lay it to the side of the sink in the bathroom until I come back later to have a shower and get ready for bed, then I soak it overnight. Usually the stains are gone by morning. If it's particularly bad, I put on more Vanish gel before washing. Also, I just avoid light coloured clothes whenever possible.

Vanish, then wash, then line dry. If we get some sunshine the stains tend to bleach out on the line.

Get to the stain as quick as possible is key.
vanish spray, rub under hot water then soak and wash.

Stacey, tomato is our main culprit . She loves tomatos and would eat them all day if we let her.

DS has been pestering me to but some vanish gold ever since he saw an add on the telly. In fact he cried because I didn't buy any so might have to give in and get some.

If it's on light coloured clothes then wash as normal and while they're wet, lay them on the grass in direct sunlight. Works a treat even on tomato x

Sunshine!!! Honestly, its the best way if getting most stains out x

I just use some hand soap to scrub the stain quickly then wash as normal. As others have said, the best thing is to get it on the line to dry in sunshine (when we're lucky enough to have any!). Bleaches all stains that washing doesn't quite get out.

I'd probably just pick dark colors and then not worry about it. With vBiolet I generally just don't worry. If I am concerned, I just use soap and water right away and then throw it in the regular laundry.

Thank you ladies. I stick to dark colours for myself, I don't seem to be able to eat a single meal without spilling some on myself. But the kiddies look lovely in colours. I've got a bunch of clothes ready to soak in a bucket tomorrow. Hoping for some sunshine to hang them out on the line.

I spray some stain remover and soak in water sometimes overnight. It doesn't work every time but as another poster said getting to the stains as soon as possible usually gives you a higher success rate.
