HI All, my LO had been exclusively BF until 6 month and started on solids after . HE is quite a fussy eater. Sticks only to certain food groups.

Problem now is I have to return to work on March 17 and I want to wan him of to a formula before I start.

He does take sippy bottle. He is happy to take juice, water, soups in them but not Formula. I have started to add some formula (5- 10 ml i 50 ml of Juice) in his Grape/berry juices.

I am really worried I would be able to wean him off before I start.
Any advice on how to introduce? And what should I do? I am giving Aptamil. He didnt like Cow and gate. thanks for all your suggestion.

Have you tried expressing and giving him half formula half bm? You can increase the amount of formula as he starts to accept the drink.

No. But then I don't have a pump and I am not sure I should be investing on one as its only for the transition :(

Please let me know if there is any other way for this ? I am desperate to get him trained before I start. Thanks

Have you tried formula in an actual bottle instead of sippy? Alot of babies still want that sucking sensation.

You can hand express milk, you don't need a pump. I think it's a good idea to try mixing formula with expressed milk - just an ounce of expressed milk with an ounce of formula to try and encourage him.

Have you tasted formula?! It's pretty rank although brands vary. I would think you'd just have to try the different brands - get the small cartons - and see if there are any he likes better. Although he is a little young for it, you could try the growing up milks. It's not ideal but I think they're flavoured differently to the earlier stage milks - some have vanilla in, which might make it more palatable to a baby who's not had formula from a young age.

If he was a decent eater, I probably wouldn't bother with formula at all as he won't be too far off 12 months. You could just go to normal milk (whatever you drink yourself, although make sure it's whole milk if you go for cow's milk) and ensure he's getting everything he needs from his diet, but I understand why you might want to use formula as backup if his eating is more limited.

If he's happy to drink from a sippy cup then I'm inclined to agree with Rachel_C and say he probably just doesn't like it! I wouldn't introduce a bottle as I think that's a step in the opposite direction. The only other thing I can think of is putting it with some food aswell as drinks - you could put it in cereals, porridge, mash potato etc. I wouldn't fret too much, I think I'd just look into getting vitamin drops and just carry on sneaking it into him where you can until he's closer to a year old and you can go for it with whole milk.
