How to safely serve meat at 6.5 months?

Tonight I gave my 6.5 month old strips of turkey breast cut against the grain as per BLW instructions. I am worried, necause he was biting off big pieces and holding them in his mouth. I scooped them out, because I thought he might choke.

Is he too little to have meat served in this way? How can I serve meat?

That's exactly what we did. Believe it or not, they really can handle it. Just let him try and see what happens. My friend's 6 month old did exactly that and ate 4 huge strips of chicken the first time she was offered it. She was terrified, but her LO loved it and was perfectly fine.
