I've have decide to bottle feed my LO:baby: he's only 4days old and was hungry all the time on BF but my milk has kick in so much yesterday and i dont know what to do for the milk to go awey? I'm so sore and my breast are killing me:(
Any advice for bottel feeding mummy?

i was told to wear a bra day and night with pads in. cabbage is meant to help placed over boobs. i just left it and after a few days of it coming in it dried up.

avoid hot baths and stimulating them

Leave them alone firstly - and just wear pads till they dry up - which they will eventually! You might find they hurt more when your lo wants a feed.
It took a while for mine to stop leaking completely but they will eventually, but might take a couple of months.

I tried the cabbage trick (I was severely engorged on my one breast) and it helped within a matter of a day or so to remove the hard/swelling. For the sake of the pennies it costs to buy a cabbage, it is worth a shot. Also, firm fitting bras help too... like how the other ladies mention.

:hugs:

same! I also ended up wearing two bras, a regular one and a sports one, it seemed to give more support and made the engorgement more bearable. Ice helped as well for me.

I asked this at my ante-natal class - apparantly there used to be some medication you could take to dry up your milk, but they don't do this anymore. The m/w taking the class suggested a good supportive bra and take regular painkillers.

I feel much better now, still sore.. but less milk coming in and they're less hard now.
Still need to take painkillers at night as i have a high fewer.

Maybe now your milk has kicked in your LO may not be so hungry as your milk has now changed....it might be worth carrying on with BF just to see if he may be fuller before starting on formula.

Just a thort x

I have a post open about this too and it seems either cabbage or ice packs my doc said binding but im really not into that after reading up on it ugh

hey it's much better now for me, no pain, no temperature, but stil a bit milk coming out when i change the breast pads-not so much tho.. and my baby boy is 12day :)
