I have a growth scan this afternoon so I guess the mystery will be solved by then but I have a question about how you tell what you are getting beaten up with when you feel movement.

I feel a lot low down but midwife also find the HB down low and I think I feel hiccups down low. I rarely get kicks to upper uterus area but then again my placenta is up there and on the front too.

I read something on spinning babies that said that a lot of low movement is actually from hands if they are around the face before the head engages and then part of me thinks some of the cervical "bouncing" might be head off cervix if he pushes with legs off parts of me where the uterus is in the way.

Hmmm what do you all think. Anyone have experience with confirmed differently positioned babies that can compare what they felt?

No experience but I wonder the same! Which bit is what attacking from the inside :)

My baby is either breech or transverse and the consultant said im probably feeling her bum when i get knocks on my cervix! at last scan she was breech with her feet up by her head and bum at the lowest point. I always get low movements x

I get kicks/pushes up top, but hiccups are below and what I feel are hand wriggles (more motion, but less strong/sharp then the kicks) are also down below. I know my baby's head down.

I get def big kicks in the ribs so I know bub is head down , I also feel movements down low which I am assuming are her hands !

I get bum being pushed out at the top of bump, legs to the left side but high, if I lie on my right side I get hands rubbing at my hip bones then I've a head down so get hiccups etc down there!

Just got back from the growth scan. Baby looks well.

So the verdict. He is head down (yay) with bum near ribs at the left and feet at ribs on the right. I'm placenta anterior but quite high and his feet are kicking into my placenta. I watched him kick off my placenta and felt the low "pops and bumps" that I feel down low all the time. Of course he can and might have moved and will move heaps still before delivery but the movement I've been feeling today is pretty typical of where he's been for a while. I think the low stuff at the sides is elbows and hands. His hands were all up by his face LOL though we did get a little 3D grumpy face from the boy. So cute!!! Looks just like his daddy.

My LO is goes between breech and transverse and I feel movements all over the place! I can almost tell where he is lying as I can feel a distinct, hard, apple sized ball at the top/side of my bump .... My bump is very low but wider when he's lying transverse. Still plenty of time for him to behave himself and go head down.

Once you know where the head is then its relatively easy to find out where the rest of baby is laying. Obviously dependant on where you placenta is and how much abdominal fat you carry. When sitting completely relax your stomach muscles and feel along the top of your bump and find a hard lump. This will be baby's bum. Follow the lump round and you will hopefully feel the back, if you cannot feel the back but just lots of frontal kicks then the baby is most likely back to back. At the moment my LO is head down, bum right at the top of my bump, back out but to the right and she must be doing some weird pilates move because shes also kicking me near my belly button! lol
