Just thinking ahead as my LO is 10 months old and I want to get an idea of what to do when I move him on to cows milk.

He already drinks water from a free flowing Tommee Tippee. Do I continue with bottles for milk? I heard a HV telling someone they shouldn't be giving bottles to their one year old.

If I give him cups, is it best to use the same type of cup as he has for water or try something else like a cup with a straw?

Any cup recommendations would be appreciated too!

I have tried both and failed :dohh:

she refused any milk from her water sippy, so I bought a different colour one, refused again. Then I bought a trainer cup, refused again. So I'm still using her bottle but mix with cows milk, she doesn't like 100% cows milk anyway...

I just had the 12month check, she said not to stress too much about transitioning her from bottles, but instead try to brush her teeth every night after her bedtime bottle.

I stressed myself out trying to get my little girl out of bottles for milk, honestly, dont worry about it. Use bottles and occasionally offer them a cup, they do get bored of only getting a little bit of milk out of a bottle eventually, and realise cups are better :) Just brush their teeth :)

I've also been trying to change over to a sippy cup. My lo will drink a little water out of a spout sippy cup but she's spends a lot of time waving it and spilling it everywhere. She is a champ with a straw so I bought some straw ones but they've been awful. The one leaks and the other one (a nuby straw cup) is SO difficult to drink from - and it also leaks a little. So far I've kind of been sticking to the bottles but I'm thinking about getting a bigger spout one (the ones I have are too small for her bottle size).

If your LO happily drinks water out of a the tommee tippee then I'd try that first and then go from there.

We have tried many different sippy cups and cups with straws etc. The best I have found is the nuk learner sippy cup with silicone spout. It doesn't leak and has an attachment for handles so its easy to grip.
