Hi!

This is probably a bit personal, so if so, i'm sorry in advance!

My husband works and supports us both. I don't work (due to health problems). I don't receive any benefits (to do with hubbys wage being too high and lack of national insurance contributions, and I doubt i'd be eligble for the disability ones after changes in the requirements), but I'm ok in not receiving anything myself!

We'll be eligible for child benefit (from what I understand). This will come into my account. I just wondered what other people spend their child benefit on? I realise that it's intended to be used to buy things for the child (which is my sole intention), but I wondered what people find they actually spend it on?

Thanks!

We withdraw the full amount and stock up on formula for the month (4 boxes at the moment) and use the rest for other baby related items that LO may need.

Xx

nappies, wipes and jars, anything left goes towards house stuff x

Thank you both! That was along the lines of what I thought. It's reassuring to know that I will have some extra coming into my account that I can use solely on buying things for the baby.

Yeah sometimes all of it you'll find will go on LO, but sometimes you have more left. Like at the moment any left is going towards spending money on holiday, but it all works it way around either way lol xx

I don't spend it on anything specific. It just goes in my bank account along with my salary.

Same here, it's just money that goes in the bank I have never kept it seperate

All our money is in one pool and used for what ever it needs to be.

It's your money hun don't feel like you have to spend it in any particular way, for us I put it straight into our childcare account so it feels like we pay less in childcare lol! But when we don't have those costs anymore it'll just be absorbed in our joint account and won't go on anything specific.

We spend it on nappies and formula, and days out like when we go to play centers, or DH takes LO swimming. we had some over last month as I buy nappies and wipes at baby events and we bought him some books, (owl babies and the tiger who came to tea :)) as we now read bedtimes stories every night. I draw his money out each months and keep it in a separate purse, or i get it muddled up.

It all gets pooled into to overall household budget. We spend more than the amount in clothes, toys and activities for Ellis.

We don't keep it separate, we were going to at first as I was thinking I might feel guilty and as though it isn't being spent on LO which it's meant to be for. However we never bothered keeping it separate in the end as most of our money is spent on things for LO anyway so it's swings and roundabouts really.

Ours just goes into our joint account and goes towards our bills. I like to think that one day we will be in a position where it will be spare money to go into a savings account for LO, but unfortunatly we aren't at the moment.

All of ours goes into a savings account for him which we top up to make £100 per month.

We don't get it any more but it's about the amount I spend on taking the kids out places and basic new clothes like t-shirts and shorts.

At the moment it's going into a savings account towards the wedding but its just offsetting the money I spend on her out of my wages.

It gets mixed in with all the other money that goes into my account (not that there's much lol) but I buy all the jars, wipes, nappies, formula and food for DD so I like to think it contributes to that.

I pay for a week of megs nursery with ours! (her nursery is £80.00 a week)
