Hi all,

I'm currently staying with my Mum for a week as DH is away on business. While I'm here for convenience I'm using the ready made cartons of Aptamil first rather than powder. Abby seems to be much hungrier and has upped her intake from around 22-23oz per day (I know this is less than recommended but she's been gaining weight fine and HV happy) to around 27-28oz a day and going less time between feeds? Like normally she has been going from 8pm to 6am but today it was 8pm to 3:45am and would normally have a 6oz feed on powder but is draining a 200ml (about 6.5oz+) carton?

Has anyone else seen this on ready-made cartons or are we just having a strangely timed growth spurt (she's 10 weeks today)

Hmm 20 views and not one opinion...?!!

No worries- after a super cranky day of short naps and an unusually cranky Abby I've decided it's a growth spurt

No idea, couldnt help my LO is just 2 weeks old and we fed him ready made similac today and he is very fussy not happy at all.

Hmmm, I haven't noticed a real difference, but then again we have only used cartons when we are out, so a max of 2 per day, so it's hard to tell...

I do think that LO gets a little hungrier quicker after a carton, but that could just be my imagination!

I used cartons for the first few months and LO went through so many he ate and ate. As soon as i changed on to powder he went longer and slept longer so yes i totally agree with what your saying. The cartons are far easier to digest so they go through the system much quicker. It's something to do with the sugars that are broken down during the heating process to make it sterile for the cartons. Also you may have problems getting back on powder as cartons are much sweeter than powder, this is why i used cartons for so long as LO hated the powder for months he just wouldn't eat!

Of course it could be a growth spurt too.

i also had this when she was younger when she was on 5 once of normal milk she got a stomach bug and couldnt hold it down so we went onto cartons and the dr told us its not as heavy, so we got loads and we was at my mils so we kept useing for abit till we ran out, but once she was better she was taking 6 onces of the cartons then when she went back onto the normal milk she was taking 5 ounces again.
so i think what the dr said was rite carton milk isnt as heavy so maybe thats the reason they want more xxx
