Oliver was born severely tongue tied which didn`t get noticed for a week or so and we finally had it snipped on tuesday. However, we are still having big trouble with feeding. He is still waking every 1.5-2 hours throughout the day and night. I was wandering around the supermarket today and saw a load of different hungry baby formula which can be used from birth. Has anyone used them this early for their LO? Oliver is just 2.5 weeks? Also if so, how did it go? Does anyone have any thoughts on using it?

Thankyou!
xx

Personally I think he's a bit young. We started Hungry milk at 6 weeks (not every feed though) He might have trouble digesting it. How much formula will he take at a feed?

Usually about 3-4 ozs - sometimes more, sometimes less and also quite a bit of it goes all over the place which is apparently because he has to retrain his tongue. Does this seem a lot? I also thought it was quite early but was quite surprised when all the tins were saying ´from birth´on them. Very confusing. Also, he was a big baby (10.1lbs) and I always thought that bigger babies were more likely to have longer gaps between their feeds as their stomach´s are larger?! I am not sure if that is right or not, although was the case with my first son who slept a good 6-7 hours straight from leaving the hospital. Maybe we were spoiled....!

I gave connah 1 feed made up from hungry baby formula when he was 2 weeks and it really upset his tummy and he was really constipated for a few days after so we stopped.
WHen he turned 1 month old we gave him 1 hungry baby feed before bed then increased it to every feed at around 5 weeks x

What made you think that he would benefit from it? Has it helped things?

He was taking 4/5oz from a really early age, 4 weeks he was taking a full 5oz sometimes 6oz so i introduced it slowly(1 before bed increasing to every feed)

It helped lots as now he is on a steady 5oz and also sleeps really well which i dont think he would do if he was still on first milk,he would prob just be unsettled.

Personally i think your LO maybe too young also,if and when you do decide to put him on it i would introduce it slowly and give him time to get used to it.

But its your decision hun :) x

Thats really helpful - thankyou. I also think its a bit early especially as his tongue has only just been sorted so apparently it can take some time in order for him to relearn how to use it but I will def keep it in the back of my mind for a few weeks time. Just the thought of doing these sleepless nights for a long time are a bit scary, especially as when I finally get Oliver down Theo wakes up!

i got told not to go to the next step untill baby is on full bottels of outher stuff but with my 1st son i changed at 3 weeks and all was fine i give my lo a stag 2 botlle befor bed

How old is he? He might be waking at night out of habit rather than hunger. Also I don't think you're going to see a difference after one feed.
