Hello

My LO has recently started waking again during the night for a feed. Normally at about 3/4am but he will only ever take 2oz's.

Can you give them / do you give hungry baby milk for the last bedtime feed? Did it help them sleep through better?

I take tablets before bed and when I wake up to feed him I feel like a dizzy zombie, not good :(

Opinions / experiences please :flower:

i tried that a while ago as Sapphira feeds so much but really unsettled her & had her waking up loads in the night...i found over time she just naturally dropped the night feed by herself in the end

We did this from almost the start..as jacob started sleeping through from 5 days and HV said to give him that to keep him going when he was asleep. Now hes 9 weeks and we give his last 2 feeds as hungry baby..never had any constipation or anything with it either x

hungry baby didn't work for us as she still woke to feed and if they are only taking 2oz they might just be using it to go to sleep rather than hunger?

so do u jus give him 2 hungry baby milk feeds and the rest normal feeds?? im very interested in trying this but didnt know if u could give a hungry baby milk before bed then normal baby milk the rest of the day? xx

It didnt work for us, actually made things worse as he got really windy and constipated as we were swapping formula normal in day, and HB at night... he didnt like the change, if he has a low milk day, sometimes he'll walk up for the same as you, 2 oz, but sometimes if i pop a dummy in, he goes back to sleep, so as someone said above may be just using to go to sleep?

It cant hurt, so try and have a go :):)

It's only a tiny bit different to normal milk - I would just give it all the time tbh, I doubt you'd see any difference just giving it last feed. Also night waking is so often not due to hunger...

i give him hungry milk all the time, he takes 5 oz and sleeps for 4 hours at a time which is fab! My mum used to crush up a rusk for me and my brother and put it in our bottles from 3 weeks old on the nighttime feed! If you think he'll settle on it more then do it! It wont hurt him! x

it didnt really work for us either, i believe that hungry baby was too heavy for Harriet, so she didnt actually sleep as well as she does with normal formula.

Have u tried givin your LO some water when he wakes in the night? he could just be thirsty? this was our case, and now Harriet only wakes once - obv she is younger than your LO so not quite cut out the night feed yet!

We give our LO hungry baby for the midnight and 4am feeds. Its the only way we can get her to sleep for 4 hours, othewise shes only alseep for around 2 and a half hours and I end up shattered! I guess its worth trying to see what works for you :)

Harrison used to wake every 3.5 hrs last 2 nights hes had HB at 9pm and slept till 3pm
