Hungry Baby Milk

What exactly is this without sounding dumb lol>? How do you know if baby needs it? My LO is 21 (16 adjusted) weeks now, hes on cow and gate stage 1 and hes not ready for weaning yet. During the day he has 4-5oz every 2.5 - 3 hours. During the night he still wakes every couple of hours for a feed, so i was wondering if i gave him a bottle of hungry baby formula as his lad feed, could it maybe help him to sleep longer? Thanks xx

I think you are supposed to avoid it unless advised to use it as its purpose it to prolong weaning. What your LO is having sounds about right!

It's to help delay the weaning process, I know people sometimes try a bottle of hungry baby milk before bed to help them sleep longer but i've heard lots of people say it made no difference and their LO's carried on waking through the night

Hiya hun basically its Casein based rather than Whey based which is what stage 1 formula is, it is supposed to keep baby fuller for longer. Your LO sounds fine without it though, also they go through a growth spurt around the 4 month mark x

We were advised to go on hungry baby milk as LO was taking 7-8oz every 2-3hrs and her littl tummy just couldn't handle it all, but she was still hungry! Now on the hungry baby stuff she takes 5oz every 2.5-4hrs and is much better off for it!
It can cause constipation though which is always a concern, luckily LO hasn't been too bad, she was slightly constipated once just after starting it but thats it!
I can't advise on if it would help LO sleep longer at night as mine already slept between 8-10hrs per night from being 5 weeks old!

We use SMA too. I've heard lots of grumbles about it but it's always been spot on for our LO!

i changed to cow and gate hungry baby but mainly beccause the normal milk he was throwing up too much and when i used staydown he had constipation that wouldnt go away, he eats pretty much the same amount but doesnt throw up now, however he does have diahorrea i just want him to have the right milk, its so hard when you cant get it right
